So Close For Gas Gas At Centenery Scott Trial

Michael Brown At Orgate 2014 Scott TrialMichael Brown in Scott Trial actionWhat a fantastic day at the 100th Scott Trial on Saturday! Great ‘race’ and great weather for the event and congrats to the Richmond MCC.

No.1 GGUK rider Michael Brown went there to win and was one of the hot favorites to do so. Although beating the winner James Dabill on observation, Dibs was slightly quicker giving him the win by a close 4 marks. Michael was understandingly gutted by missing out on the win but I was happy because he gave 100% and had a relatively trouble free day. He punctured just before Bridgend but a quick wheel change didn’t slow him too much. Easy to say that cost him the win but that’s no excuse from me or Michael, everyone has a story after the Scott. Congrats to James Dabill and to Beta for the win.

JST GGUK team mates Sam Haslam and Alexz Wigg also had good days finishing 8th and 10th. Sam cruised round in his usual chilled self and had no issues all day. A slight detour before Petrol 1 didn’t slow him too much. Alexz Wigg is the toughest southerner I know haha! He is still recovering from a ‘bust-up’ ankle and gave the Lakes a miss to ride the Scott this weekend. With heavy strapping he rode and didn’t mention his ankle all day. Stop the press…..he didn’t have a puncture either! Alexz does ride ‘fairly’ hard and always has punctures at The Scott but not this year.

JST rider Dan T horpe won yet another Scott Spoon finishing 14th. Good on observation but quite slow on time. Dan knows his pace nowadays and rides the day with his head which is sensible.

Road and Trials GG rider and Scott first timer Jack Price finished 18th and thoroughly enjoyed the day. He had some ace rides where I saw him and his pace was good riding close to his pal Billy Bolt.

Dan’s team mate Jack Stones improved on last years result finishing 20th so well done to him.

GG girl Katy Sunter had a cruel start drowning her bike very early on but dealt with it accordingly and continued regardless to achieve yet another Scott finishes award.

All in all a great day for GG. We didn’t win but 4 bikes in the Top 10 is excellent.

Thanks to Kev for prepping Michaels race bike
