Red Rose Classic Season Finale

red rose classicRed Rose Classic Motorcycle Club rounded off their 2014 season in fine style with the final round at Copy Pit, near Burnley. A total of 55 riders turned out in freezing temperatures and rain to try and master the tricky Cliviger venue, which is used for the annual Waterside Trial.

Clerks of the course Chris Gascoigne and Barry Doran laid out four laps of ten sections, with the Bultaco-mounted Gascoigne coming out top with just three marks lost. Former World Champion Yrjo Vesterinen had an excellent day on his Tiger Cub dropping just nine marks to claim class C from Steve Thomas’s Bantam.

Vesterinen’s daughter Hanna just missed out on a second successive class win on her Bultaco, having to settle for third  place by one mark in class Te.

David Wilkinson (Honda) got the nod on the ‘oldest rider’ rule from Paul Whittaker (Fantic)

Other class wins went to Russell Jones (Triumph), Keith Hobson (BSA), Maurice Brayford (DOT), Eric Atkinson (Ambassador).

The club would like to thank the clerks of the course and the observers.

Their final event of the year is the annual charity trial of December 28 at Copy Pit, not Auto Transmission as previously arranged. Nearest postcode is BB10 4SZ.
