The Manchester 17 MCC Hawks Nest Trophy Trial was blessed with Mediterranean temperatures, which dried up the previous week's rain quickly, leaving perfect conditions for the trial. Club rider Peter McCanna made his trip to the Peak District from Bolton worthwhile by outclassing the rest of the field. Peter dropped just 3 marks all day. Losing 2 of his marks on section 9 in the gritstone river. Second place went to brother John McCanna, closely followed by local Cheshire rider Dave Matthews.

The 50:50 route was a close contest between overall winner Kev Hipwell losing 2 marks on his 2017 Gas Gas and Rob Bowyer on his 1963 Triumph twin losing 5 marks. Third place went to Hugh Barker, travelling back home to Kent after watching the World Trial on Saturday. Hugh took the opportunity to ride some rocks at the famous venue of Hawks Nest instead of the Southern mud.

The experts class was a battle between eventual winner Patrick Wardle on 22 marks and youth rider Daniel Slack just missing out with 26 marks. A Slack 5 on section 2's rocks cost Daniel the top spot. Third place expert went to Gary Huxley from Malpas.
