Gas Gas UK At North Berks Supertrial

gas gas logoThe North Berks Motor Club again organised a very successful two day event at the weekend under the stop allowed rules which suit this ‘Super-trial’ format which is working and keeping the Top riders happy.

Stuart Robinson has a perfect venue for this and his experience is without question spot on for making challenging sections.

Saturday was the women’s event and I am still amazed that GG girl Nikita Smith was on the podium which is simply amazing after her long fight bike to fitness TWO YEARS on from her horrendous and near death accident. This girl is a fighter which I have the upmost respect for. She definitely deserves a gold medal! Nikita was 3rd behind the countries two best riders Emma Bristow and Becky Cook. Team Alford Cloburn GG Girls Louise and Catherine were also there. Louise was 5th on the A route and Catherine’s was 4th on the route.

On Sunday was the men’s trial. No.1 JSTGGUK rider Michael Brown redeemed himself massively and finished 2nd. A mistake on the penultimate section gifted the win to Iwan Roberts. Michael was in great form, loving the stop allowed rules and responding to his friend and very vocal minder Shaughan Galway which definitely helped him. Michael was super confident and looked like his former self. He was fuming to miss out on the win and this I like to see, his hunger is back!

Trial2 World Champ Jack Price made the final and finished 4th. Jack just didn’t quite look himself yesterday but still gave 100%. Jack knows you can’t win them all and I bet was the first rider to back on a bike out training this morning! Jack is very level headed this year and will bounce back this coming weekend.

Cloburn JSTGGUK rider Dan Peace was 5th just missing out on the final by 2 marks. Dan was riding really well; just a soft 2 mark ride on the first section in the semi prevented a tie break with JP.

Younger Bro Jack Peace was out on a 250, revving and crashing round the heats looking awesome in places. Jack lost out on a 3 way tie break for 8th. Jack will need time to get used to a bigger bike but maybe not as long as some others! Jack will revert back to 125 power for this weekends BTC before his debut in the WTC Trial2 Class the weekend after in Italy!

JSTGGUK ‘working men’ Sam Haslam and Alexz Wigg were 6th and 7th respectively and made the semi-final both trying hard and were great in places. A few spills from the wiggster and some amazing catches from old school minder/legend Harold Crawford. (see pic!)

JSTGGUK new boy Tom Minta was 14th. Tom will now look towards the BTC this coming Sunday rto nresme battle with JSTGG Rider Dan Thorpe in the Expert Title fight.

Thanks to Factory Kev for preparing Michaels’ immaculate bike.
