As most people are aware, Marc Teisssier came and rode the SSDT along with his son and Sherco’s top technician Josep Paxau and MRS knew instantly there would be a reason behind this as he hasn’t ridden since 2011. Malcolm and Rhoda Rathmell had a meeting with him early week when Marc explained that he had spent literally millions of Euros on the enduro project and felt it was time to come back to his roots and make a new Sherco trials bike, using the high technology and quality from the enduro bikes. With the eagerly awaited announcement of their new trials model Sherco importers, Malcolm Rathmell Sport, have at last been able to set a date for the very popular Sherco Extravaganza Weekend which this year will take place at Westwood near Sheffield on Saturday, 7th November, courtesy of Tim Reynolds who owns this fantastic piece of ground.
Riders will be familiar with the venue as it has been used for many British Championship so consequently Westwood lends itself perfectly for testing all the Sherco models. On the trials side all the new 2016 models will be on test: the 125, 250 and 300 models. Extensive development has been undertaken on the new trials models to once again keep moving the goalposts. As usual all the top Sherco dealers will be in attendance with bikes to test and it is expected there will be at least 18 trials bikes so everyone will get the opportunity to test ride the bike of their choice. It it, however, advisable to contact your Sherco dealer to book a ride to avoid disappointment on the day. More details regarding the dealers attending will be announced shortly.
The full MRS team will be there on the day to give demonstrations and to answer any questions, along with all the dealers who are there is make it an enjoyable occasion. There is expected to be a few surprises on the day with some new faces of riders who have signed up to ride Sherco for 2016 and no announcement on this will be made before the day. The weekend will be finished off on Sunday with an Enduro Practice Day run by Raw Enduro which is a pay and play day. For details regarding the practice day ring 07802 572023 for more information.
Testing of the bikes will start at 9.30 and finish at 4.00 pm and there will be hot and cold refreshments available on the day. The venue of Westwood will be signposted from Junction 36 of the M1 through Tankersley to the test site.
