To be clear - the idiot refers to me. I know very little of AHRMA beyond a couple of brief conversations with other local vintage enthusiasts. The general sentiment shared was that AHRMA rules can be somewhat strict when it comes to acceptable vintage bikes. Certainly more so than local club events.

Having just returned from Scotland where I was fortunate to compete in the Leven 2-day trial, I'm on sensory overload with all the incredibly cool pre-65 bikes I saw over there. And, quite fortunately - I've an opportunity to get some bikes into a container to ship back to the US.

I can ride anything I saw over there in my local club vintage classes, as air cooled and drum brakes are the only requirements. I'm curious where AHRMA might draw the line with some of these highly modified bikes I saw. Drayton frames, REH forks, custom hubs/wheelsets, billet yokes, etc.

And, to be clear - I'm not looking to win any championships. Just looking to enjoy more days in local vintage competitions, as our local club events have limited vintage turnout. I'll not be one to complain about being DQ'ed if I run afoul of an AHRMA rule or grey area, but I'd prefer not to show up only to find out I can't ride.

	Thanks for any education!

Sad news from California. Lane Leavitt passed away on May 16th. Lane was a multi-time U.S. national champion who went on to a career in films and television as a professional stunt man and coordinator improving and inventing systems in common use in the film industry. A larger than life presence. He will be missed.

So this showed up on our event insurance (along with the wrong additional insureds). Trialsmaster clarified with Birdsong insurance if someone falls in a puddle we are not covered without additional insurance. 🫤 So if it rains and you don’t get the additional coverage you are not insured.

Our friends at Rhode Island Trials Club / NATC have stepped up to put in the huge effort required to host the World Rounds / Wagner Cup for the FIM and AMA this coming July

We ask for your support be it by pre-ordering tickets, volunteering, or helping to raise sponsorship funds.

The projected cost is about 18x the amount of money the club has in its bank account.

That being said, it will be a triumphant return of the sport's best and bravest athletes, it will be in a location with breathtaking terrain, and it will have incredible camping and paddock action.

Two of the sections will be ADA accessible. Parking is free. There is also a trials ride available to "tour the loop" on your trials bike on Friday.

We (Team USA) are asking US clubs to support Team USA by buying a box of 45 Bernie Books. ...... The author Len Weed has had these stashed away in his storage locker for donkey's years... Everyone thought that this book was unavailable. Well here they are. After these are gone there are no more. Own a piece of history and a great learning tool. Bernie and Len did a great job of laying out the fundamentals of our sport....and the basics haven't changed. Timeless photos and great stories.

These books are NOS originals. There is some slight cover discoloration on some books due to storage. Otherwise they are like new. Many clubs have already steppped up and ordered a box. They make great year end awards or use them instead of spending $$ with the trophy man. All proceeds to directly to the US TdN rider fund. The TdN is September 29,30 in Switzerland

I would like to avoid selling one book at a time for now. If you want one please ask your club to buy a box. You can email me at martin@usmontesa.com

Afternoon, I’m new to trials, not to vintage racing or trail ridding. I’m in the middle of replacing all four of my trials bike tires. I’m not “ stuck” on any one brand name. So I just ordered a set of really soft Michelins for my Ty175. Was riding a new Beta trials around the lot and couldn’t help but notice at just how sticky the tires were on the Beta trials bike. So I ordered a set. Michelins

I’ve got new but older Dunlops, been on my shelf for a couple of years. Those are on a stock TL 125, seem fine but not as sticky as the new Michelin trials tires.

im in need of new trials tires for a new to me, Honda TLR200. Keeping my options open, any suggestions on tires, but would like examples of why you would recommend a specific tire. I’ll be starting on the 2 line, “. Lol, and I may end my short lived Trials career on the 2 line. Truthfully I would like to advance my trials skills, winning isn’t important anymore, it’s the fellowship, the friendships which are import to me.

sorry, back to trials tires. thank you all in advance.

I'm working with the Rhode Island Trials Club to put on a vintage trial in Exeter, RI on September 16. The club has run several Nationals and World Rounds at this facility. We are trying to promote the vintage event by playing up the link with the 1975 World Round that was held at this site. Prior to 1975 it was called the European Championship. Then they added a round in Canada and the US and started calling it the World Championship.

Here are the results:

World Round July 20, 1975

Stepping Stone Ranch, Escoheag, R.I.

1. Malcolm Rathmell (Montesa) 54

2. Yrjo Vesterinen (Bultaco) 58

3. Manuel Soler (Bultaco) 64

4. Ulf Karlsson (Montesa) 64

5. Charles Coutard (Bultaco) 66

6. Martin Lampkin (Bultaco) 66

7. Benny Sellman (Montesa) 68

8. David Thorpe (Bultaco) 68

9. Lane Leavitt (Bultaco) 70

10. Mick Andrews (Yamaha) 72

The loop was 22 miles.

I haven't been able to find any information or photos from the event. Does anybody out there have anything tucked away in the garage, or does anybody have suggestions of other places to try? I'd like to make some displays for the event. It's a long shot, I know.

Thanks

	Hey Folks

So it looks like my work will be sending me over to the US for a bit under 1 year as project manager, and I'd really like to see if I can't make the most of that time and try out the trials scene while over there.

I'm currently living here in France and riding in Senion 3 class, with an Ossa 300i and a Gasgas 125TXT. Where I live now I'm less than 5min from the local terrain, so get to ride several times a week.

I'll be in the Ohio region for the duration of my time there. My thoughts are to try and buy a cheap bike and hook up with a local club.. So my 2 questions are-

Whats the scene like ? can anyone point me in the direction of a local club?

Whats the 2nd hand bike market like in the US? Easy enough to find, or rare and expensive? I'd be happy enough with an early 2000s bike, just to play around with and then sell when again when I leave

Anyway, all help will be appreciated

	Cheers
