Recently acquired a 1963 Cub converted to a TR20 replica complete with 3TA forks.

I am a relatively light rider (65kg) and find the suspension very hard and also noisy with the rebound 'slam'.

I am toying with the idea of fitting progressive springs (and possibly rebound springs) ??

The legs have casting numbers H1119 and H1120 (possibly suggests sidecar origins ??) with what I believe are a red/white marked 464mm long springs. The units themselves feel smooth and tight so I'm disinclined to dismantle them further.

Any experience, advice or suggestions for suitable solutions would be very much appreciated.

Hello guys, last year I've got a 1973 Explorer with a semi-seized engine. Managed to find another one that should be in working conditions but the owner doesn't know which model it's from.

I tried putting the engine in, it looks the same when it comes to frame brackets but it doesn't fit... it's like it's slightly thicker than the stock one where the engine meets the frame in the swingarm/filter area. Also noticed the right side sprocket cover is different (longer)... any idea?

Is it better to slightly file the engine bracket or the frame?

	Hi All,

Starting a project on an ‘89 Aire. I don’t have the forks to go with it so looking at my options (budget friendly). I’ve never tinkered with or even ridden a motorbike so don’t have any knowledge to go off.

What are my options of forks/wheels? I assume getting something period correct will be my best option for getting something that will fit? Is it just a case of making sure the forks fit with the 35mm yokes that I have? Or if I get a full set with different yokes is it just headtube dimensions to check? I.e if theres upside down forks that I can find.

I’m not overly fussed about making it factory corrects just looking to get it usable so don’t mind if it’s a different brand etc.

thanks in advance, look forward to getting stuck in!

Second thing; one of the petrol tanks is the fibreglass tank/seat unit. How do you think this will cope with todays petrol?

Hello, I could do with a bit of help if anyone can assist please

My trials Cub, has a PVL electronic rotor connected to an Electrex world cdi coil pack, unfortunately the chap who built it is no longer with us, so there is no way I can verify this.

The two instructions from each manufacturer state different ignition settings BTDC

My question is: Which setting would be best to set the static timing, the Electrex world at 6.5mm BTDC or PVL 1.8-2.2mm BTDC?

I am led to believe that the PVL has little or no advance till 7000 rpm, but the Electrex world has the advance built into the coil pack

Can anyone positively confirm or deny the above

Any further help would be gratefully appreciated

	Many thanks

Hi, I have just fitted a Mikuni 26mm carb to my Cota 349. I was originally jetted for a TY200. It will start, eventually, and tick over, initial revs are not good then clears in the mid range to full throttle.

Does anyone know the jets and needles etc that should fitted?

I did find an old thread but was settings for a 348. Would the same be ok for 349?

Well I’ve just read about Gustav Franke and his impressive efforts riding a Zundapp Trials bike. I knew that they entered Enduros but had not considered Trials, even though most of the events were in my youth when I was totally Trials and Scrambling mad. All things considered this may have been a subject that’s already been covered on this website so directions please. I have seen and read the discussion about a Zundapp Trials bike being on eBay and noted some of the comments, does anyone know if these works bikes still live on? Looking on Google doesn’t give much more than I have read in a recent publication. To me Gustav appears to have been an excellent rider often beating Miller and Smith on many occasions and riding the SSDT with a broken foot....three open fractured metatasles. Any information please.

Been working for several months on this restoration. When I got the bike it was pretty rough, it had been sitting outdoors in boxes and was pretty rusty and person I bought it from had put it together , but not very well. I have rebuilt front forks, replaced rear shocks with OZO gas shocks for trials, replaced front rim, it was real rusty, replaced gas tank, it had rusted through bottom and person had epoxied the inside, yuck. Tank I put on was from Ebay and had light rust inside which was fixed with just plain old vinegar and some pea gravel and knocking out dents and a little Bondo. I just painted it factory Cortina white along with side covers, and purchased factory decals off of Amazon. I replaced front and rear sprockets and all control cables. I plan on painting the frame and engine (which odometer said it had only 3000 miles on it, runs strong, no smoke) rear swing arm and front fork with factory colors. The alloy exhaust is DEP unit from the UK, sounds throaty, but not loud, nice! Seat was already re-covered by previous owner. I am retiring in a few months and plan on riding in vintage twin shock seniors events for fun. Only other thing I plan on doing right now is replace steel rims with gold anodized aluminum units and do foot peg lowering kit. I live on a small ranch in the mountains of Arizona so I have plenty of play area to ride and practice. I will post some more pictures when I get to the rest things I want to do to it. The TLR200 is light, the motor is torquey, and fun to ride!
