Hi

I have a question for the guru's out there. I have a 2010 TXT Pro 250. Lest year I noticed that there was fuel in the gearbox oil when I changed it. That precipitated a complete engine rebuild. Glad I did it because it was pretty worn. I had only had the bike a few months and bought it to get into trials (a decision I dont regret for one minute )

I bought literally every seal and bearing, clutch, top end, crank was rebuilt as well.

When it came to fitting the main bearings I took them out of the box (The new style XiU-rdiOnes) they were so tight that it was impossible to rotate them. IN other words, you could not rotate the inner of the bearing at all. Even with significant force. I was told that they are quite tight, but this seemed insane. Anyway, went ahead with fitting, cases heated, bearings frozen. Tough to get them in, but they were seated. Bolted the cases up and the crank was literally solid. I have rebuilt many many engines over the years and I have never seen a set of bearings this tight. The crank could only be rotated by popping a high torque cordless drill onto it. After a few minutes of this, I could now rotate the crank (just) by hand. This really didnt seem right to me. Anyway, I was assured by some that this is normal for these motors. It started up fine and ran well. However, there was a constant loud whirring noise which was not there before. It did get slightly less, but has not gone away.

After a few rides I noticed that it is starting to use gearbox oil, but it doesnt smoke. So I popped off the flywheel cover and its full of oil. So the left side seal/bearing is failing obviously.

So it all has to come apart again and get some more fresh mains and seals.

My main question here is about those bearings. Are they really meant to be that tight? I cannot believe that they should be that tight. Surely this will generate massive heat and possibly destroy the seal and the o-rings in the bearing?

I have never come across a main bearing that cannot be rotated by hand (unless it is seized) brand new out of the box. Makes me think that I was supplied a bad set of mains?

	Thoughts anyone?

	Nigel

The gasgas is so much longer than the sherco, the reach seems quite a bit longer. For guys that have ridden a bunch of different trials bikes, you guys find that? How did you adjust?

I'm at ropes end trying to sort out a very fussy 2017 e4 gas gas txt 125, bike only has about 5 rides on it by my 13 y/o daughter and it is safe to say that it is impossible to start for her. To her credit, the count of experienced adults who either can't start it or have extreme difficulty getting it lit, is now 5. For some reason I seem to be able to kick it over briskly enough to get it to fire, but this is not a very workable solution as if she's not with me she's stuck with a dead bike. If I'm with her then riding consists of perpetually needing to park my bike to get her sorted everytime she falls or stalls. A ma:jor pain generally.

So, here's what I know so far:

	1) Spark is very weak, unless you spin the motor very quickly (plug out and with hand or foot on kick lever) Anything less than rapid movement gives zero spark.Comparing this with my 280 of same year shows how weak it is, 280 shows a very nice spark with just a modest movement of kick lever with hand.

	2) naturally, have replaced plug, platinum tip etc, made sure high tension lead is making good contact etc. Have swapped cdi *and coil *with the 280 with no difference which led me to the conclusion that the stator must be bad, wrong!! My first rate dealer, Dave of Gas Gas pacific quickly expedited a new hydria stator to me and I thought must have the problem beat but alas it's essentially the same.** As a side note, coil is the same part number between both bikes, CDI is a different #, obviously different mapping but functioned to give a spark (weak mind you)

3)Of course I've checked the carb, thought of trying a 55 pilot but the bike once running is perfect and besides, I'm already convinced the weak spark is the culprit.

I'm hoping we can get to the bottom of this because it just isn't right and I'm about to pull my already thin hair out!!

Thanks for any knowhow offered, Cheers

	Evening folks

Ive a small issue with my bike , it can be tricky to start, it feels like the kickstart is only engaging at the bottom of the stroke of it.
I know this model can have a knack to start but any feedback or help would be great.

Also the clutch casing has a crack in it (please see attached photo) where kickstart runs through which I’d assume would not help. What could cause this to crack ?
Again any feedback and help would be greatly appreciated

	Cheers

Quick question regarding draining the oil after my water pump seal failed on my 2004 Gas Gas TXT Pro 125. I've replaced all the water pump components with a new kit (shaft seal, impeller, circlip etc) and wanted to ask about draining the sump. Obviously there was water ingress into the oil so my question is how do I go about ensuring I have gotten all the water out of the sump?

It's now parked. I'm in Central America. Parts are limited.

Hi all, Ive recently got a 2017 txt racing 300 and it’s making a noise in the gearbox. There is a ticking noise that im assuming is the chain as it does this in time with the master link. But once I shift into 4th gear the box starts to whine like crazy. I know theyre straight cut gears but it sounds like a race car, it’s almost louder than the engine. I’ve been told that it’s a case of possibly bearings or something in the box but seen on an older post on here that the whine is “somewhat normal”

im just trying to figure out if I need to take the engine out or not as I’ve never done it before and dont want to do it if I don’t have to. But I want to do as much as I can myself to save money as the bike cost me a lot.

thanks in advance for any help, I might end up taking it out soon anyway it’s just a bit daunting
