Which do you think might be worse, being held under slight tension against a bulkhead or suddenly fully compressed against a rock face in second gear (which is what they are designed for)?
Bikes have been transported your way for decades with no apparent problems.
I have an 04 250 pro and it still has the same bearings as when I purchased it 6 years ago (I've never touched the motor), I change the oil every 6 or 7 months! and it still runs as good as the day I purchased it!
do people really change there oil every 4 hours, that means I would be changing mine 15+ times a year !?!?!?!
look on the brightside.. it was in the trap.. clean it all up put fresh cheap oil in and run for 1 hour, make sure the oil is returning to tank than empty it out clean it up again and run proper oil for 5 hours ( two trials ) between changes..
Yes, thats what I have done, did it for 15min with some cheap 20/50 & engine flushing fluid
And just done it again after an hour on 20/50
Sounds fine, but I was just worried about the big-end as they are quite a fragile engine!
Was a very good trial, shame it wasn't better supported. There can't have been any more than 10 of us . On the plus side there were only a few sections unobserved
Shame it wasn’t better advertised, not everyone wants to buy the TMX News, maybe it would be better to advertise on TC fixtures or a least put the details on the ACU?
Depends what RPM idle is set at. Quite a few 2t ignitions rise from 0 advance at 400 RPM to say 7 degrees at 800 RPM.
Edit - Electrex should be able to supply and ignition map
I was always under the impression that 2 strokes had more advance at lower RPM (due to poor cylinder scavenging) and the curve retarded with higher rpm. The opposite to 4T engines?
It is the old adage, that If you have a name like DL or SM at the time you make your own rules in the sport. and know one takes a hout,
Because it is good for the sport to have these names caring???? and they are not doing it for financial gain?
The big mistake with my "MiniOtter" SCT, was that I did not have a life sized poster of these two made and place it behind my bike when I brought it to light. and first photographed it.
There would have been NO problem then. and we would have had a cheap little Classic bike to have fun on.
Regards Charlie.
Doubt very much SM would been seen dead on a bike made from Chinese bits
And as pointed out it’s not really a cheap bike, when a decent twinshock could be purchased for less!

I don't mind a few mods, as I'm only going to use it for practicing
