  1. I think 1000ml is the max, start with 750ml and top up and when the oil comes out the weep hole, remove the screw when doing the oil, then there's enough. Replace weep hole screw and ride.
  2. Yes a tr77, but on my old one, the tail pipe wasn't welded to the rest, there was a gasket and a twin Spring connection that connected them by pulling both parts together. I'm not sure whether the 250 and the 350 had differing connection methods!
  3. From the photo it looks like a pretty clean example. In regards maintainence, do the basic stuff well, abit like your riding, and the rest will just follow on and should be fine provided it you keep on top of the small stuff. Have fun.
  4. If you can find me one for under 2k let me know, I wouldn't mind trying one out for a bit at that price, only ones I ever see are at the 3k mark, let alone under 2.
  5. At that price and taking in spares availability and usage, I don't think you'd go far wrong with a Beta Rev3, either 200 or 250. Still loads about, second hand spares around as well, well proven, there's still a Uk dealer, lots of people bought em, so loads of advice around, and out of the bikes in your price range, I reckon they'll be about the best of the bunch. A monty 315r, if you can get one, also wouldn't be a bad bet either, but good luck finding. as for green lanes, get an extra Acerbis 1litre tank for it, it'll give you a bit more range!
  6. I saw a fella at a local event at the end when he was knackered trying to put bike in the rack on a 4x4. He got a milk crate and did the rear lift in two, once onto the crate, had a breather and then into the rack. That said he did look tired. ifs it's too tall for one movement, if might be worth considering, you'll not be the only one.
  7. Don't kickstart on the side stand, lean it against a wall or tree! sidestand bracket, get a large pair of plumbers wrench or a big G cramp and squeeze the bracket back up, the gap has opened and needs closing to the width of the stand!
  8. It's not just you, I had a bit of a lay off, and need to renew a club membership and my ACU licence. Club first obviously, restricted to only on line, all payments for everything must be bacs, what ever happened to join up on the day and pay. If I hand over money, leave it in the tin for 48 hrs, no virus, collect it with disposable gloves on, no issues. it seems that our world has gone over the top with safety, why, gyms reopened, they take cash to go in, they allow new members joining at the desk etc, and they share the equipment inside! Go figure, if the ACU ran gyms, that'd never happen! We need a sensible approach that we can all comply with but that does not limit new people from getting involved. Possibly, with lockdown and YouTube, we may see an influx of new people wanting to join, who have been sat on their sofas watching all the videos! Do we want to put them off, surely they are the very people we want to encourage as they may save our sport from dying!
  9. Bit of everything, but in the uk, the lonnnnnnng dab, would be fives! As for the motorway type section, I've watched a wobblers trial and it's similar. what you have to know is they'll make up most of the entry, so without them, there is no trial, it can't all be for the experts. Cater for all, they've done it, job done!

  11. A beta alp, is either a 200cc or 400cc four stroke engine, borrowed of Suzuki. The beta techno engine uses their own two stroke lump. Totally different beasties! ............but if you want to try, let us all know how it goes ???

You must have one in a tubed tyre at low pressures, when riding green lanes with the TRF I've seen loads of guys lower their pressures and then without rim locks, wheel spin everywhere eventually ripping the valve out, even when they'd previously seated the bead on the rim. It's not worth it ruining your day, put one in!
  14. In video three, think it may be the camera angle, but your forks look bent! anybody else notice it?
  15. I see what you're saying Billyt, but in a low gear at high revs, ie horsepower, no slippage! Therefore not sure your right. Still think it's torque! When you check a car clutch, high gears on a gradient at lowish revs, and plug in more revs to get the slip. It has nothing to do with high revs producing the horsepower, it's all about the torque generated. Think about auto clutches, they are just torque converters. The clutch uses the torque!
  16. Low'ish gear and high revs , you can't check a clutch. High gears, under strain, lower revs induces the slip, as feetup says, more torque. On the road, you were probably high gears, increase the revs, torque produced, clutch slips. It's nothing to do with levers, it is the clutch! sorry!
  17. TY will feel much slower and altogether softer than your 315. Consider though, that TYs are few and far between, at reasonable money, for a clean ones, so perhaps consider another make if you want a change, unless you fancy the air cooled class! Beta 200's are great for newish riders, as are gassers. Scorpas with the Yamaha engine , 2002 - 2008 are also worth considering as they are nice and smooth on power. Have a think about different bikes rather than limiting yourself, unless you know of a good TY to you locally.
  18. Hello and welcome, good luck on your resto! Is there a big trials scene on the island, or do you have to inter-island, Jersey two day?, or Normandy four day, going further afield.
  19. Trouble is the old Ossa's stopped being produced in the 80's and Holdens, the importers, didn't do a bike shop etc. so they went and there was no stock, unlike some of today importers who are dealers too and carry stock, going back a bit.

  23. If it's a pre existing trailer, being only modified and not a full structural change, it needs no further testing. IVA is for new vehicles or heavily altered or rebuilt They don't have sufficient staff now at the test stations to do all the tests, let alone if they had to do the older, reconditioned stuff as well! Imagine all those old box trailers where is you replace the sides or base it would need retesting. Nightmare. Tell your mate hes good, if he lightly modifies an old one, no IVA needed.
  24. Not a bad idea, but how do you catagorise them. A '95 Techno or TYZ etc. is a way different beastie to a 2010 Gasser. You could have a pre 2000 class, but then you'd still be left with 20 year old machines, like my Scorpa, having to compete against the latest tackle!
  25. Use it until it happens again, and while your using it, your back up is to research where to send it!
