  1. Ive been having problems with the rear brake on my Beta Techno lampkin rep ever since buying it, ive bled the system several times (tried using a vacuum system, and bleeding with mastercylinder above caliper aswell) and it never gets any better, no fluid leaks out of a mastercylinder or anything so id say the seals would be fine. the brake rubs slightly and the lever is spongy (will go to the pedal stop on the skid plate) the brake works but just has a horrible feel and the pads return very slowly. Ive got a trial in a couple weeks so would like to get this sorted if anyone has any ideas?

  2. It seems theres 3 ways to start a GG Pro, if it doesnt start within 4 kicks of each of these theres a problem. Either no throttle and kick with choke off, kick with throttle and choke off, or kick with full choke and no throttle. When I first got my Gasser I had a few problems hot starting it, but got the technique now. Bump starting seems to be a bad idea on the Pros, the gearboxes are abit flimsy for that sorta abuse.

  3. I have a DP clutch kit in my Gas Gas, works good, would recommend. I have good experiences with 15W40 oil in the gearbox of my Gasser and Beta Techno, if the clutch is right it will work well, I tend to see people using ATF when their clutch is worn or out of spec, I also done the same before fitting new plates.

  4. Never tried any braketec parts, but a good working AJP is more than enough power for me, our Beta Techno has a 4 pot AJP off an 09 Gas Gas and its brutal!, I also have the same caliper and master cylinder on my 03 Gas Gasand it is nowhere near as good, although its likely on old fluid and ready for a clean. But honestly, even a badly working modern trials brake will lockup with 1 finger, what more would you want??

  5. NEVER use synthetic ATF, clutch may feel nice for a while, but will stick, slip, drag and I just had endless trouble with it (putoline synthetic ATF), It also made my plates swell. Now I have new plates and run 15W40 with no problems, your bike is a pre Pro so has a regular design clutch, unlike the diaphragm clutch in the Pro, so you should have no problems with 10W40, I wouldnt run ATF if I was you, its a common trick to eliminate drag in the Pro clutch which your bike should not have.

  6. Fitted new DP clutch kit today, required abit of sanding on a flat surface to get it down to 9.75mm pack size, and finger height was 17mm, although not all fingers were perfectly the same height, one of them stuck up about 1mm higher, and when I tried the bike it had horrendous clutch drag, twice as bad as before, any tips? going to strip it down again tomorrow.

  7. So my TXT Pro 200 has finally got to the point its clutch drag has got so bad it wont idle, tried bleeding clutch, master cylinder and slave are working fine, so decided id just change the plates for the sake of £40 from <mention of this company is not permitted on Trials Central. Please delete this post>. So basically I have read a few posts about setting up the pro clutch, and it sounds horrible, but needs to be done!. So aparently the plates need be between a certain pack thickness, is this thickness for the whole pack (3 friction plates and 2 steel)? and also the clutch fingers need to be a certain distance from the pack? I have experience with replacing clutch plates, but never within such tight tolerances, usually just throw the plates in and enjoy, but from what I have heard the clutch kits for the pros do not come pre measured.

So basically what I need to know are the correct pack thickness (and what im actually measuring) and how to set the finger height

    Cheers

  8. Recently the already bad rear brake on my Gasser has got even worse, it will lock at low speeds with alot of force, but I certainly cannot depend on it with the clutch out or as a safety net for a wheelie, surely somethings wrong? dont think it needs bled and it has okay feel on the lever.

  9. I dont know if the forum backdated or not, but my comment disappeared, anyways, Beta Technos are bulletproof and a very nice bike to ride once set up right, lots of spares and some cheap aftermarket parts, still a very competitive bike with the right rider, ideal beginner bike, pleanty power for a 250 aswell. Had a go on an 04 Sherco 125 a while ago, wasnt for me and not as reliable as the trusty Beta, also fairly unchanged since the late 90s, some of the last of the old frame as far as im aware, although this may not be a bad thing. Also if you are new to riding a 290 will be abit much, stick some carbon reeds in the Beta if it doesnt have enough power for you, but they fly. If I was you id put £20 into some seals and £50 for some new clutch plates and enjoy.

  10. It has the 175cc piston from the TXT Pro 200, original 125cc stamped barrel was bored. Its definitely not a 125 as I have a spare 07 barrel and piston and it is alot smaller.

  11. Its a 2003 pro, it was originally a 125cc but bored to 200 so im guessing it will be the 125 flywheel with additional weight. I will get the side casing off this weekend and have a look what one it has, cheers :)
