  1. I've just replaced mine with an OKO tawainese flatslide which is great. I realised to change all the jets and slide etc. was quite expensive and might as well get a new one. What is missing from yours as I have one which is complete but looks worn.

  2. I have taken my 349 fork leg to a welder who says it may or may not work as he won't be able to weld all the way around. To be on the safe side I'm on the lookout for some new legs if possible. Does anyone have any cluttering up their shed or garage?

  3. I am hoping to have fix my 349 fork leg welded up but on dis-assembly to do a refresh I find there is a small part that fits into the bottom of the spring. In profile it is sort of top hat shaped. One of these is intact and the other is broken.

Does anyone have the slightest idea what I'm on about and if so where I can fine replacements?

    Cheers.

  4. Just giving the front end of my 349 a going over and a piece just fell out where the pinch bolt tightens when I loosened the bolt. Do any other models share the same fork legs ? It may give me more options when searching. I'll put a pic up later when I've stopped swearing.

As Woody says the exhaust needs repacking I always get mine done on a new rebuild also if your engine as been rebuilt you will need to run the new piston in you will find the carburettor will need a few tune ups until the Engines run in.

Thanks, I'm just running it gently with brief spells with wider throttle openings, anything else?

Also so how does one re-pack the exhaust?

    Cheers.

  6. Getting a magnifying phone app was easier than trying to track down my dad ;)

Went on a practice session last night and the bike ran well but still not quite right. Some footage here.

I spoke to Dave Renham at Bultaco uk this morning who said the pilot jet reccomended for the Mikuni I bought from him was 30 so I've got conflicting info.

I can get a 45 locally today just to see what difference it makes?

    What are your thoughts?

I run a VM26 on my 350 M199; it runs perfectly on this jetting so it might be a good place to start:

120 main (summer) 130 in winter

    N8 needle jet, 5DP39 needle (better from 1/4 to 1/2 than 5F21)

    clip in middle groove

    60 pilot

    Screw 2 turns out

    2.0 slide

    0.5 air bleed

Bear in mind summers here are around 25 - 35C, winters around 10 - 15C

Well I can't read what stamped on the pilot jet so I have no idea !

  8. Thanks for sharing your collective wisdom, much appreciated.

The crank seals were changed recently during re-build and hopefully cooking the piston didn't do any harm. I will check for possible air leaks around the carb and see what jet it's fitted with.

New OKO carb will hopefully arrive today.

Does run but not very nice still a bit lean and still not crisp. The engine does rev a bit longer after a throttle burst then it should.

I believe the carb is worn out typical slide, needle and jet.

The engine can also run much slower in idle mode, Sherpas love to rev slow when ideling I strongly think there is still another issue

The carb is brand new, supplied by    https://www.inmotiontrials.com

  10. Hi, I'm just going to change the fluids on my 349 prior to putting the new carb on.I'm guessing the large screw on the bottom of the left hand side case is the drain for the the transmission oil and the fill plug is on the top.

I presume the plastic screw under the engine is the drain for the gearbox oil with filler above.

So far about 1/2 teaspoon of water out of the transmission and a tablespoon of oil from the gearbox.

Could someone confirm this and let me know correct lubricants and quantities please.

    Thanks for looking.

Did you put New piston kit in it? Regardless of that it could be a number off things timing have you replaced the crank seals? The Mikuni carburettor can be some times hard to set up. I've just not long ago put the o k o on my 199A runs very well straight out the box. Another thing witch is over Looked has the Exhaust been repacked? This can make a big difference to the running. of the bike my A has had full Engine rebuild by me con rod kit piston kit job lot runs sweet a lot only skimp on rebuilds then wonder why they don't run properly not saying you have just pointing it out.

The engine was re-built a couple of months ago, new mains, seals and crank. I also replaced the carb with a Mikuni from InMotion uk and added electronic ignition. It ran well, as far as my very limited experience could tell. I used the original piston and, I am now told, cr4p 2stroke oil, sigh....

Just had it re-bored and new piston, rings, pin and small end bearing fitted.

This was just tentatively started and only ran for a couple of minutes, if that.
