  1. Hello ScrumpyJack, I have just bought a C15 which I was also having trouble with slow running. I fitted a Domino throttle which helped a lot. I was advised that the Amal 622 is the way to go to sort the problem. Speak to David at www.trialsbits.co.uk he seems to know his stuff! Sorry I can't be more help that to point you in that direction, I am still learning myself! Cheers, Jim
  2. For my sins, I have just bought a 1962 C15 (distributor model) which looks the part of a trials bike but has a standard road version engine. It has a 375 monobloc Amal carb. I am going to change the engine duplex sprocket for a 18T and the gearbox sprocket for a 13T with a 64T on the rear wheel. Once I have taken off the lights, got it to run smoothly at low revs and got used to Pirelli tyres I hope to trial it. Am I on the right track to have a usable machine or do I need to do anything else? I had heard that lengthening the inlet manifold helps with low revs and torque - does anyone know if this is true? I would like to find a kick start that clears the footpegs - any suggestions? Any advice on engine/gearbox oil would be gratefully received too!
  3. My rear wheel is starting to 'bottom out' or rub against the undersdie of the air box when it's under load. It seems to be getting worse and doing it more often. Has anyone experience of this? I have had it out of the bike and taken the spring off, it seems to 'damp' still and the adjuster works but not sure if it damps enough. Could it be that the spring has become compressed over the years and does anyone know the correct uncompressed spring length? The bottom mounting/bearing needs doing too so maybe a reconditioned unit is in order but I have no idea where to get one - any help and advice gratefully received.
  4. Thanks for your help on this. I have a shed load of 6004-2RS that I bought in bulk from the USA for my other Gassers, just need to stock up on the 6905-2RS for the fronts of my Pro's!
  5. Thanks Jon, that's good advice. Cheers, Jim
  6. Worthing Trials Club in conjuntion with the Beamish Owners Club are holding twinshock trial on Good Friday, you can find details in the events canendar. As President of the Beamish Owners Club you would have thought I would be there on my Beamish but unfortuenately the crank seals have gone and it's not worth rebuilding the engine without replacing the big end. I have a con rod kit but there is no-one local to Brighton who can fit it for me before Easter and sending it away will just teke too long! Bugger! So, althought it is almost Beamish yellow, my GasGas will have to do this year - bit I shall be ready next time to compete for one of my own trophies!!! Come along if you have a twinshock, Beamish or want to ride in the support class on any modern bike.
  7. Thanks Mike, any idea of the number of the rear bearings?
  8. I have a 2006 200 Pro that needs front wheel bearings. I am assuming that they are the same front and rear like previous models? I know the TXT (non Pro) takes the 6004-2RS bearing - does anyone know the bearing number for the Pro models and are they all the same?
  9. We all have t start somewhere as you say but it is inadvisible to do thie job without the assistance and guidance of someone who knows what they doing. Unless you are prepared to end up with a pile of bits, I would get a mechanic to do the job. Do you do your own plumbing and electrical work at home? Good luck if you are going to embark on the project alone - let me know how much you want for the box of bits!
  10. I picked up a brand new Beta 200 yesterday. The dealer told me not to park it facing down hill as the 'carbs on these are prone to flooding'. I took the bike for a run up and down a few small hills and petrol began to pour out of the carb over flow. Even when I got the bike into the car park and on the level, the petrol continued to pour out until I turned off the petrol tap. Has anyone else had this problem? Mod Edit - email address removed as the spambots will pick it up and fill your inbox with crap!
  11. A very good question Steve! Wish I knew why I had to pay a four figure sum for mine yet my Beamish was nearly half that. Jim
