  1. Thanks for your reply. Yes I did try that but no different.

I took off the coil pack earlier & where the wires earth to the frame & cleaned the connection & to my surprise she fired up so it looks like a sensitive connection. Why the horn seemed to cause it is a mystery but that’s electrics for you .

Thanks for your help anyway 👍👍

  2. Hi all.

I had a strange thing happen to my 4 ride  (67reg) yesterday. I was just checking it over pre mot & It started 2nd kick like normal so I tested the horn & it cut out & won’t start now ! That’s never happened in the 3 yrs I’ve had it .  Thinking it could be the kill switch so I disconnected it but still the same. I checked it for continuity which also seems fine. I can’t work out why the use of the horn has killed it unless there’s a short  somewhere perhaps. I have ordered a new plug but don’t think  it’s that.

Any of you guys & girls out there got any ideas cos I’m baffled, with thanks ,Andy

  3. Thanks Jonny for your idea. I had a look this morning & the free play is fine.
Yes, great advice from Turbofurball. I managed to take the calliper off last night  although the Allen bolts were stupidly tight even with penetrating oil 2hrs before & give it a good clean up .  Then I gave each piston a little brake fluid & one piston was a bit lazy so I assume without Turbos suggestion of a rebuild kit will stay lazy . The hardest part I found was fitting  the spring . But I’ll get used to it. The wheel seems to rotate a lot better now so just need a short road test

  4. Hi Guys. I noticed the other day that my front brake is binding on my 4 ride & been getting hot which is not good. I assume the Caliper pistons need a clean & are perhaps corroded. There’s plenty of life in the pads . Mileage is nearly 1400

Is this an easy job as I’ve not tackled this job before.

Any advice would be great, thanks in advance , Andy

  5. Hi Guys, I recently bought a 17 reg 4 ride & was interested to read your chat about power mods. Could Greg give more details about the power mods you’re talking about. Obviously the front pipe needs changing to get rid of the cat. Does that effect passing the mot ? You talk about the small washer in the throttle bodies. Is it simply a job of removing that & it’ll run ok without doing other changes. Cheers guys

  6. I’ve recently bought a 4 ride  17 reg with just over 500 miles & love it . I’ve changed the rear sprocket to a 38 so it’s a bit better on the road. It’ll do 65 flat out but it’s happy at 40 without revving too much.  Did 52 miles out & about around Somerset’s green lanes the other week with just less than a litre left in the tank so I think 60 miles is safe on a tank. Just need to get a 2 litre fuel bottle to put under the seat for flexibility. Think I’ll need a harder tyre though cos the Dunlop is rather soft & won’t last long

  7. It’s 260 but really torquey & enough for me . Some say it’s best to swap the pipe & get rid of the cat but not sure if it’s wise for me to mess with it  !! It’s basically a trials bike that’s a bit heavier but great fun & comfortable

  8. Hi again, well I have finally managed to find a  17 reg 4 ride for £4500 from a dealer in Bridgend. It’s only done 400 miles & in perfect condition. I’ve changed the rear sprocket to a 38 & I’m much happier with it now. Really love the bike , really easy to handle so it’s thumbs up

  9. Thanks cord  & Nigel for your insight. Great to hear your experiences on it . I’ve had  trail bikes in the past but far too heavy & too  tall a seat for my liking . Having a bike that’s only about 80kgs I would enjoy I’m sure & 50 mile range is not bad at all is it . When I’ve saved up & find one I’ll give you a shout.  I guess I’d need a trailer too if I fancied a trip to wales as it would be too heavy for a car rack
