  1. Are the thread sizes for those screws the same as earlier models? If so they are hard to get hold of.
  2. I like the sound of this, bikes unregistered, no MOT etc but I just got a quote for £68 full comp - might go for a lower level of cover in case it gets pinched
  3. If it was 1977 then it would have been held at the Royal Horticultural Halls and I'm sure I went that year. Bet that photo was taken on the press day 'cos as a spotty 14 year old I'm sure I'd have noticed....
  4. My Cota is still in bits but I watching this thread with interest!
  5. Thanks, if the idea above doesn't work I'll try them
  6. Thanks I've gone for an adapter boss and a new tap, will dry fit and see if it works and then bond into place
  7. Thanks, was the adapter bit easy to get? It's just a piece of threaded tube isn't it?
  8. Thanks, but that's a female nut that screws onto an M16 thread, I need a M16 male thread one that screws in. Unless I can screw an M16 threaded tube into the boss on the tank and then fit that tap to it? I've tried Sandiford and Bultacouk/Inmotion with no luck.
  9. Hi there hope someone can help I've just bought a tank seat unit for my 1973 Cota 247 that has the original fibreglass tank and not the separate aluminium tank. I got it to replace a leaking Ali tank and cover. Unfortunately, the 12mm petrol tap from the ali tank does not fit the fibreglass tank. The tap boss on the fibreglass tank appears to have a 16mm metric thread on it. Unfortunately, the tank came without a petrol tap and none of the usual firms can supply a 16mm petrol tap. Any ideas on what to do please?
  10. A bit over the top
  11. Hi AndreEst Google Translate does Finnish to Estonian: http://translate.google.com/translate?js=n...history_state0= good luck with the bike.
  12. The alloy tank can be a problem as well. My 247 has a number of leaks. The tank sits on a rubber/foam pad that disintegrates on the top frame tube.
  13. Last time trials was on telly it was kickstart
  14. My 10 year old son took some photo's on a phone of the demo, apologies for the quality Stafford Trials Demo 2008 ignore the wall of death ones! He had a great time and is definitely hooked
  15. Did you get to see the Demo on Saturday? Mick Andrews and Kevin Schwantz riding a few sections!
  16. Sandifords on ebay have got some: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/MONTESA-COTA-172-2ND...1742.m153.l1262 Both first and second ones Hope this is of help
  17. I've had a mazda bongo friendee for four years, they do between 19 and 30 miles per gallon. They are on average 10 years old and need the normal maintenance of any vehicle of that age. There are known overheating issues due to the mid engine and complex cooling arrangemnts. But regular coolant changes (two years) and sensible maintenance care usual stop these problems. I could not get my Cota 247 in the back with the middle row of seats in but removing them is straightforward but a real pain because of the weight. The upside is that with the seats out the bike would fit and you can still sleep upstairs in the rising roof etc. You can get then in 2WD and 4WD with or without the rising roof.
  18. I'm planning on using this from Frost, I didn't see Kreem when I was looking http://www.frost.co.uk/item_Detail.asp?pro...mp;FrostSubcat=
  19. Hello there, I'm restoring a non runner at the moment so am not sure what to advise but there is this gem of a manual on line: http://epll.no-ip.com/cota247/cota247.htm Good luck
  20. My TL was a 1976 model bought in 1980 from Deens in Beckenham, fitted it with a Sammy Miller pipe and rode a few Kent Double five events. I was a lousy rider and my mate always beat me on his TY175. Wished I still had it.
  21. Be careful to check the length of the rear ones if they are universal. My plastic one is too short and needs an infill piece.
