Hi all any bultaco engine experts locally in the Cotswolds as I need to replace a gear in the g/box.
I have a mate in Liverpool who is very good at Rebuilding Bultaco engines. He has just done 2 x 199B's for me. If you need his phone number just message me.
Im brand new out here, just bought a nice 74 Sherpa T 350, just a few things to get organized on the bike, the rear tire is rubbing on muffler, tire is correct size, is it something as simple as bending muffler tab a bit?
Also is electronic ignition the way to go on these bikes, its a hard starter.
Thanks
Hi,
Make sure the "Muffler" mounting Lug is on the outside of the mounting bracket on the frame.
I have an issue with my TR77 350 clutch is working okay select 1st gear ok pull away but while moving can not go up the gearbox, the same when I stop moving and the bike is running. when the bike is not running I can click it up the gears by hand. ??? anyone had this before or know what the issue could be, im unable to split the crankcase as do have the know-how leave that to the pro`s.
Any suggestions of good engine builder who could have a look, im based in Hemel hempstead.
Many thanks
Rick
There is a guy in Liverpool called Chris Bond. He has a reputation as an experienced Engine builder. If you want to contact him PM me and I will put you in touch.
I cannot find a front brake stay for my 159. I think the material is 4mm thick aluminium. Does anyone have one they can measure approximately and add those dimensions to a picture if they are able so that I can fabricate one. Alternatively if anyone has a spare hanging around I would be happy to buy off them.
Why not get it stripped down to big bits i.e. Engine and Frame then crate them up and find some space in a container heading your way. Probably cheaper than an expert export packer charging a small fortune.
thank you very much, is it good for a bultaco 198A? I heard that on some remanufacturing the dimension is not good is that it is necessary to machine the eyebolt.
I have never had any issues with remanufactured pistons as long as they are good quality. Italkit pistons are very good.
You will find the item is called a Decomressor and it fits in the cylinder head in a tapped hole the same size as the spark plug hole. And is operated by a small lever usually on the left hand side of the handlebars.
