  1. ok guys just a fun thing for you here. Been looking through some old Junior Kickstart episodes and was wondering what happend to a few ex stars of the show.

Some such as Colley, Lampkin, Jarvis etc are fairly obvious and maybe even Phil Disney, Woody Hole, Rob Sartin and Dan Hemingway.

Going to throw a few names in here and see what response we get.

    Ian Needham

    Luke Wood

    Wayne Holdsworth

    Andy Huddleston

    Lee Sargent

    Gareth Thomas

    Chris Hannant

    David Lloyd

    Darren Snell

    Colin Crease

    Phillip Frizzell

    Lee Comelio

    Mike Roberts

    Adam Norris

    Russel Brass

Any help would be great. No doubt a few names may even present on this forum.

  2. As a friend of Jack and his family i have seen just how hard he has worked this year and just how much of a concern his wrist injury has been.

To win the championship itself is amazing but when you consider his injury has virtually prevented him from riding apart from at the events themselves it puts in to context just what a remarkable job he has done.

We are all extremely proud of him back here in the eastern centre and eagerly await his return. Hopefully he can wrap up the european title as well to round off a fantastic year. WELL DONE JACK!

  3. Just found these whilst browsing tonight.

1982 - 85 Junior Kickstarts all heats and finals, brings back some memories.

I will hopefully be uploading some from my own collection at some point but for now...enjoy.

  4. are you sure we saw the 2011 bikes at the weekend? They looked like the 2010 ones to me, normally have to wait a little later in the trials season for the top boys to be on the new machines.

Could possibly be the new Gas Gas, their factory is nothing special, despite the bikes that come out of it.

  5. Donnington park 79 -80 on a course designed by none other than Sammy Miller.

For 81 they moved to "the brickyard" in the grounds of lord hesketh's Easton Neston estate, the final series of junior kickstart was filmed at Bay Farm just up the road near Towcester.

Don't get me started on kickstart knowledge, we could be here a long time, as i have mentioned before on here i am currently writing a piece on the history of the show, needs a bit more work but hoping to get it finished this year. Really need help finding out the winners of a few of the junior shows but apart from that its nearly done.

  6. think we have got this same set of results up in the loft plus many more going back even further.

As you say certainly a lot of riders on there still involved with trials riding today. I currently run the norfolk and suffolk group trials championship of which this trial was a round back in 85, sadly those were the days when it actually ment something to win it.

  7. Hi there, well regardless of how you did i hope you still enjoyed yourself at our trial on Sunday?

Our events normally attract some of the youth and beginners therefore we often cater for them with a "beginners" route which would be one step down from the one you rode.

Being a novice championship round on Sunday I think it did tend to attract the more capable novice riders in the centre which is why perhaps we didn

  8. Hi there can anyone help me with a problem with my 04 txt.

Generally runs well apart from when it gets hot.

If im on a long ride between sections or generally riding for a while before stopping the revs are taking a long while to die down to normal tick over speed.

Then if I go to rev it again it coughs and almost dies (like trying to rev it when its cold).

I find if I kill the engine then restart the problem goes away for a short while then comes back.

Bike is in good order, well maintained, carb/air box cleaned on a regular basis, has only been happening the last couple of months.

    Any ideas?

  9. Its great that peter does still remember it, when i spoke to him he did admit that his knowledge of the show is not what it used to be, this was evident when reading his recent book.

If only i new how to post pictures on here i would put some up from the J.P Goy demo.

Certainly dont see why some clubs couldnt get some arena trials going again, would be great.

  10. The Jean Pierre Goy demo was in 1984 not 85, the pictures are on my kickstart group on facebook.

Kickstart was always going to have a limited shelf life, People say they should bring it back, yes that would be good but realistically your not going to get the likes of Bou, Raga, Fuji etc to ride around a field over a VW Beatle, through a skip filled with water and give the winner a

  11. Dont get me started on kickstart, we could be here for hours. Im currently writing a rather large piece on the history of the show which im hoping to get published, still missing a few names from my list of winners of the junior show (79,80,85,87) but otherwise nearly complete. Also have nearly all the series on video/dvd.

Would be greatfull for any info people could give me how ever small. Cheers

P.s Kickstart ran from 1979 to 1988 with a junior version lasting until 1991. The first two series were filmed in the grounds of donnington park before it moved to easton neston near towcester. It was presented by ex blue peter presenter Peter Perves with words of guidence provided by Mick Andrews, Jack Stites and later John Lampkin.

Riders had to complete a set course in the quickest time possible and were awarded 20 second time penalties for putting there foot down, The quickest rider with the fewest faults was the winner. The 1988 series was run over a slightly different format with adult riders being paired with schoolboys in a pro/am competition. Many top names in british and world trials have competed in kickstart over the years.

The course still exists today and has hardly changed in nearly 30 years.
