Apparently a shortage of carbon black, whatever that is. I suppose if a high performance pilot sport 4 s sell for £400 and a trials tyre for half then they make those?
Wow, hardly any revs at all! He makes it look a doddle! I guess slipping the clutch goes against other types of riding so I better change my thought process! I think I’m going to go to Trials Day or Inch Perfect for a bit of instruction in the New Year, unless I can find anyone nearer. Alexz Wigg lives just down the road as well and I believe he’s starting a trials school. I could really use some coaching on the basics.. But I’ll watch that video again and give it a go at the weekend. Thanks 👍
I had to get my piston from Southwest Montesa in the USA, I think it was about £120 ish. I got it sent to a friend over there and he sent it to me a a gift to avoid import tax.
Rose tinted specs or what? Some had real gearbox issues probably why there's not so many about !
some did many didnt. Some models much more than others. The 242 and susequent models 304 307 309 310 all had a similar bottom end and were pretty reliable gearboxes. I cant comment on the 348 349 330's.
Well thanks everyone for all the help. I got the tyre on properly, did a trial today and the tyre was fine. Turns out the main problem was not using proper tyre soap, beading wax, whatever you want to call it. I bought some, put a ton of it on the tyre inside and out, and it popped at about 60/70 psi I think, with the valve stem removed, after 3 goes of pumping it up. Pity I wasn't good enough today to warrant a new tyre. Ah well, maybe next time. At least it's bedded in now!
Hi RIBSIE welcome aboard im a newbie myself and trying to find my first trials bike i have leanings towards a 250 BETA REV 3 and keep scanning the adverts to see what i can come up with
Id speak to a dealer they may let you try out. Failing that go to a club meeting and make friends!
Can you report back when you get back, and tell the rest? Oxford are usually pretty well organised without being over officious imho. Would be good to get your views.
Just looking for an easy solution to this problem if there is one.
How much pressure is it safe to use to get a new trial tyre onto the rim?
Rear tyre, tube fitted due to air leaking at the spokes even though a seal is fitted, lots of soapy water used.
Used 70lb of pressure but last bit of the tyre still won't pop onto the rim properly. Tries valve out and in, and tried using the rubbery bead seal thing that should pop out when the tyre is on.
Plan B will be to refit the old tyre if I can't figure it out!
Thanks
Alan
what tyre is it, and you're sure its tubeless tyre and rim?
The push button designs kill switches. I prefer Suzuki RM style. Sano dependable design. Try Motosport outlet in america. The genuine Suzuki button. Not some China clone, knock off.
It is a combination of things I'm sure. Covid cases are increasing daily, yesterday was 35,000 new cases and 149 deaths. I dont know what the quarrantine restrictions are for riders returning to Spain for example.
If ticket sales dont cover the FIM costs..... well would you dip into your own pocket?
As much as anything the British lads that compete need a British round never mind anything else.

Where are you getting it from? They should tell you what to do, but it needs a full pdi, an absolute must. Are you good with spanners?
