Bit of a random one, at the Dirt Bike Show a few years ago there was a company selling sheds that were lined with metal cages. So from the outside it looked like a normal she’d but was far more secure. I’m pretty sure the chap was a trials rider. I think they were called Secure Sheds but can’t find any reference on the net so may not exist anymore. Anyone remember or know anything about them?
Cheers
My lad is desperately after a trials bike toy/replica model that he can actually play with. I have done a bit of googling and had very limited success, I found a thread on here from 2010 that basically said they didn’t exist. Just wondered if anyone knew of any changes in the last 10 years?
Planning this year’s trip to the Scottish and looks like I am going to have to bring the dog. I’m pretty sure there’s a couple of groups that are no dogs allowed (Fersit?) but wanted to know if the majority of spectator groups are dog on a lead friendly?
I have come up to spectate later in the week this year than usual (arrived today) and not only have they run out of kid’s T-shirts and hoodies I can’t track down any stickers. Seem to have all gone. My lad will be gutted if I can’t find one. Does anyone have a spare one I could have for a donation to a charity of their choice or a drink at the bar or something?
Agree reference the Manx and Longmynd. Reeth can be a hard 3 days at clubman level if the weather is against you, (same amount of sections as 4 days of the Scottish but obviously less miles) but in a stunning setting. That’s definitely a good gauge whether to consider the Scottish I reckon. I would love to ride Scotland but in all honesty it would be a week of dragging the bike through sections at best for me, and a long way to go not to finish. Still go and watch though.
Gerald Simpson, Blue Bar and the Bemrose are all good shouts too.
French 4 day is meant to be great too, but I’ve never ridden that one
Went for a practice for couple of hours today and now have really sore / achy knees. First time on bike since October (I’d guess) so am assuming this is a combination of total lack of riding - 2 evening trials in 2018 and 2/3 of a centre champ round before torn calf muscle stopped play - and age combining as a double whammy to tag team me in the knees.
Will ice knees tonight and hopefully cure
Any remedies to help this for future reference? Or should I just not ride at all and avoid the knee issues ???
I am after an engine case cover for the gear lever side, ignition cover for my 4rt. I’m not a fan of the trick bits ones. Has anyone got a pic of an alternative on the bike? I’ve found an apricot one but can’t work out what bits it protects from the off the bike pic.
Think the suspension is different on the 4ride. Slightly longer travel than the 4rt. Geared differently too as far as I’m aware. I’d probably go for a 4rt or an Evo 4t with a long ride removable seat if I wanted it purely for trials. Or a 4ride if I wanted to Trail ride too.
Yes, thanks. That’s what I thought. Shame, I know they’re not the most popular bike but a few about and more than the earlier model I would have thought which you could get silencers for.
Has anybody found an aftermarket silencer that fits the current model Alp 200? The only one I can find looks ridiculous and I’m presuming the old DEP one from the earlier 200 alps or the DR200 ones don’t fit.
Yes , pretty sure 301/250 was as big as they got. Fantics used to be good bikes. Lost their way a bit when things went water cooled, wish they were still making trials bike though. Used to look like this new.
Yeah, really enjoyed it. Felt for him at Leanachan Forest when I watched it back. I was one of the ones with my phones out filming him, expecting him to struggle. Fair play to him for getting round and bringing a bit of exposure to the sport.
Very close to buying a 110 station wagon. It's been covered on here that you can get a bike in the back (2 at a push) but just wondering how easy it is? I can't be doing with loosening bars or taking bits off. I just want to roll in and out. Is that possible?
Really like the idea of a 4ride for trail riding. I can cope with the fuel range, and gear lever position, but am slightly concerned about the air box. I ride Wales a bit with some fairly deep river crossings occasionally on the Strata Florida and the like. Is the air box exactly the same as on the 4RT? No additional snorkel or anything? Does anyone trail ride one regularly?
I think it will be Doug again. I reckon he's got a couple more wins in him. Think Michael Brown is the only one that can stop him realistically unless there are bike issues etc.
There are two different TY175 stands. One for the models that have the mount on the RH swingarm arm and the other for the models with the stand mount on on the LH footpeg mount. They are different lengths and are also opposite hand to each other.
Another thing to consider is that almost no-one runs a TY175 nowadays with standard length shockies. Most common length shocks are 340mm which is about 20mm longer than original, and shockies longer than standard cause the standard stand to be too short.
Some people run the fork tubes flush with the top triple clamp which also causes the standard stand to be too short.
The other thing is that rear trials tyres are a lot deeper/higher than they were in 1975 so the lean angle depends a lot on how much weight is on the rear tyre when it is on the stand
The usual solutions that I see are to extend the stand to the right length for your bike set-up, or leave it off the bike
Yes, shocks are 350mm and fork tubes flush. Rear tyre is 3.5psi. Yes the way forward is to extend it.
Didn't there was a left and right hand option. My stand is on the right, throttle side. Whether it's the right stand for that side I don't know. But think so.
Thanks for the replies. It's definitely too short, no doubt about that. Shorter than all the pictures, shorter than all my other trials bikes. Could have ruined my 9 hour drive to the highland classic last year when it fell over and snapped a lever as I walked section one. Scratched and dented the tank though. Rode it yesterday in the Kia round at Nene valley (good trial nene valley, well done) and fell over numerous times there, so that was the motivation to finally pull my finger out and sort it out. Just after a measurement off one that has a side stand that works. It's not s full restoration but is/will be a nice one.

That’s them! I did loads of googling and couldn’t find that?! Thanks
