This stem works to accept air to inflate the tire.

It also has another "stem" that is 4 spokes away that has a bright red shiney rounded aluminum cap on the end. Under the cap It looks like it "might" be able to recieve air (but is does not) then below the area where the red cap mounts this stem gets about 50% larger in diameter and has very course threads. A flanged nut is threaded onto this part of the stem and the flange is in contact with the rim. It might be a rim lock to prevent the tire from slipping on the rim.

My tire has apparently sliped a little bit on the rim as the "normal shrader valve stem wirh a small knurled ring at the base" is a little bit off perpendicular to the rim.

Any help will be appreciated and if anyone has a link to some explanation of this it would be great. I touched a 2 stroke for the first time in 30 years and I am hooked. This is my dad's bike, I think he bought it new and raced it and gave it to me in the 90s. My dad passed away last year so I decided to rebuild it.

I rebuilt the carb, reused everything and it fired right up. First goal, tires and shocks - get it rideable so a third generation can try it and then I will pull it apart next winter and rebuilt it.

	Initial questions:

	- everything is original. Tires are in bad shape, cracked any way to keep them?

	- Rear Shocks - completely seized - not sure how to size and replace them?

	- Front shocks - ChatGPT tells me I can rebuild them, they work but rubber is cracked and oil would be 40+ old.

Ryan

https://www.trialscentral.com/forums/topic/85412-ryan/?do=findComment&comment=548209

I’m new to trials. 50 years old. Sure this has been asked before.

260 vs 301 for novice rider?

Im 3 months into trials and the beta 300 i bought is a real handful. A mate wanted it off me, so got my money back on it. I ride most weekends but just havnt hit it off with the beta. Ive been riding bikes for years, im just new to trials. I've always had 4 strokes in whatever sport ive ridden in and id like to try a 4rt before I have to buy another 2t.

I've never had an issue with this bike, but it recently sat in my garage for about 6 months without being ran. It ran fine when last put away. I replaced the fuel with fresh non-ethanol fuel and tried to start it with no luck. It will start and run when spraying starting fluid down the air boot, so to me that points to a fuel issue. I unplugged the fuel pump connector from the bottom of the tank and connected 12v to it. Nothing happened. No pump sounds. No fuel out the disconnected fuel line. Is there something that would cause the fuel pump not to pump when directly connected to 12v power, other than a completely dead pump? I haven't pulled the pump out of the tank yet to inspect, but find it odd for a pump to fail while sitting in a temperature controlled garage for 6 months.

New SY owner

https://www.trialscentral.com/forums/topic/85400-new-sy-owner/?do=findComment&comment=548168

I just picked up a 2003 (?) Also any advice on basic kit welcomed.

I am a relatively light rider (65kg) and find the suspension very hard and also noisy with the rebound 'slam'.

I am toying with the idea of fitting progressive springs (and possibly rebound springs) ??

The legs have casting numbers H1119 and H1120 (possibly suggests sidecar origins ??) with what I believe are a red/white marked 464mm long springs. The units themselves feel smooth and tight so I'm disinclined to dismantle them further.
