:rolleyes: I am in the process of preparing a Yam Ty 175 Yam and turning it into a 200 Majesty ( am I right to say Mick Andrews John Edward Shirt T.Y. is how Majesty came about?)

So if any of you decent people out there have any info on frames, turning 175cc into 200cc, shockers, the history of the marque, how to squeeze that extra power from the engine, length and placement of shockers subject to rider weight, forks, exhausting matters, :blink: and any info on this bike, however insignificant you may feel it is, please post it here, your reward will be several pints of the finest beer known to man. BODDINGTONS: the cream of Manchester as well you know!

Here's a pic of my 1982 Majesty as i bought it.........it's in pretty original trim apart from new Gold rims and a SM Chrome front pipe and a WES Tailpipe.

It has the later Godden Chrome frame and main differences are geometry and ground clearance when i put it next to my TY175.

It came with Gas Girlings (now replaced with Falcon Gas Shocks and correct springs).

The engine I believe is a 175 from what I was told and not a 200,but I've not had the head off.It is a Majesty engine as the engine cases are correct,they were modified when autolube removed and a different oil pump cover is fitted,plus generator cover is cut and modified.

You can do the 200cc conversion with a Yamaha Jet Ski/Watercraft piston,

I believe.......somebody will know.

Craig Mawlam has a lot of parts and knows the history.

As previously posted, Craig Mawlam bought up the remaining Majesty stock from John Shirt. Depends on how much you want to spend on this project but you can buy a brand new 200 Majesty frame from Craig as well as other bits and pieces. I have a brochure with his contact details somewhere, as soon as I find it I'll post them. Otherwise you could look at the twinshock site run by John Cane (who also runs trail and trials UK, specialising in parts for old Yams - advertises in Vintage section of TMX) There is a picture gallery of twinshocks with quite a few Majesties. Craig also posts on there as MajestyMoto so you could try contacting him from that - might be quicker than me finding the details. It is a Yahoo site and you'll need to sign up to view the contents but it doesn't cost anything. Address below.

Nice bike. I'm building a 320 Majesty at the moment to a similar colour scheme, just hope it looks as good.

Did you by it from someone near Stoke on Trent? I'm sure I saw it at a trial near Cheadle last year, looks like the same bike.

Bought it from Derbyshire - so quite possibly could have been @ Cheadle, Woody

Thanks for the advice, just one more question! I believe the early Majesty's used the original Yam frame which was chopped to allow an integral bash plate. Then along came the Godden frame of which their were 2 versions, Mark 1 and Mark 2. Anyone know how to tell them apart?

In the meantime I'll follow the tips posted, thanks again.

Nigel Birkett at Birkettmotosport is the man to see abpout the engine tuning and has just bought loads of majesty parts from shirty. i had a 200cc one and when the barrel couldnt be reboered any more i got a 175 barrel and birks ported and tweaked it and it was far superior to the 200 version and a lot less rattley. ring birks on 01229716806
