cota kid
Your forgetting one very big point. Who won the most rounds last year (2006) and what bike was he riding. Answer Fujigas with four wins riding a 4RT. I would certainly say that, that is a more than sufficent strong run of form and more than challenges the 2 strokes. betajones
Bou is awesome and the 4rt is a bike to be reconned with. But he as always been technically good, but now i believe that it is the input from Dougie and Fuji that have mentally sorted him so he can win!!! Interesting that - what other sport do you get fellow competitors in the same team telling you how to win !
cota kid
Gas Gas Team at Sheffield World Indoor Round 2006, Fajardo let Raga win the race to get to the final, which he lost against Bou on his Beta.
dabber
The bike obviuosly suits his technique, which does seem to be a step on from anyone else. His techniqe doesnt seem to be the leap forward that Schreiber made, but it's certainly progress! I do think that the biggest step up must be having that final bit of belief needed in any sport to be the absolute best. Maybe if Mr Rapley was approached by HRC to ride the Scottish again he would then believe he could? (Just by way of example)
ishy
This weekend was the first round of the Spanish outdoor championship, the top riders seem to use it for the world outdoor championship warm up, Bou carried his indoor form, outdoors with the same authority. Bou 14 Raga 21 Doug 25 Fuji 38. Going on form only and not favoritetism, I would think the bookies would make him favorite for the double. Doug looks a little more comfortable out in the fresh air again, he could just swipe the elusive 100th win. In answer to the question, "bike or Bou" both have to be spot on to win at that level. Doesn't seem that long ago when a young Doug was doing tha same thing.

mich lin
Guys, I predicted he would win the world title several months ago, before the season even started! NO MYSTRY, YOU SIMPLY NEED TO GO TO THOSE IN THE KNOW AND WHO HAVE THE BALLS TO PUT IT OUT THERE! Unlike the girly men who hide in the dark and are afraid of their own shadow. Of course it's a combination of man, machine and support, Trials is a team sport today. Sadly, trials has now become a works bike sport again, one where a production based bike is no longer capable of competing against the mighty factory one off bikes. Much like we saw in the days of LeJune and Whaley. Edited March 8, 2007 by Mich Lin

atomant
I dont think Bou would have done so well when the 4rt was in its first year . I suspect the work Doug & Fuji have done and brought it to a competitive level. I would also suggest that the work they done was incremental so they never really felt like the bike was getting better in huge steps so its easy to hold back a little. When Bou got on it he had no prejudices and just let it rip and is doing great I very much think you will see a rejuvinated Doug in the WTC this year as I am certain the results that Bou has got will inspire him on (and Fuji too) I do believe Doug is a very proud man and will want to go out on a high. Don't write him off just yet. I will stick my neck out and say I wouldn't be suprised if Montesa Honda 4rt's had a 1,2,3 podium this year somewhere along the line ! Hawkstone would be nice to do it

Hawkstone would be nice to do it Exactly on the money there, that bike has now had 2 (3) full seasons with HRC making it a bit better with every passing month, remember the comments after Hawkstone 05 about how quick the bike revved up then settled back down etc, well you can bet that there is much more HRC trickery inside that engine than back then!
