I'm trying to work out if my pick up sensor / pulse coil for a Pro 05 300 with a Ducati Ignition is faulty.

Anyone know what resistance I should be getting out of it?

Cheers Stork955,

I don't suppose you've ever had one to bits? Unless i've lost something on the garage floor mine is just a metal plate, magnet and then the mounting plate. Some people have suggested to me that there should be a spring inside????

Cheers!

Gday, no thats it - apart from a small very fine coil of wire. They aren't designed to be pulled apart and there is nothing you can fix internally anyway. Failures usually come from the coil - internal shorts or breaking, and when they get older the magnet can lose its grunt lowering output below what is needed to trigger the CDI. Aftermarket ones are quite cheap - they are a pretty common thing these days.

Cheers,

Stork
