I hope so ..

I wonder what happened to the move to the gas gas workshop .. ?

GasGas realized how much it would cost to re-engineer their work benches(and how much extra storage space would be needed) to take the extra bulk of that Yam motor so the rescue plan was aborted :wacko:

I don't wish to seem to be p***ing on their grave.

I do lament the passing of any trials manufacturer but you can grieve for too long you know.

From the Department of the bleedin' obvious:

1)The product was woefully under-developed.

2)It looks like the bottom line was; Scorpa didn't didn't sell a product that was in sufficient enough demand to keep them afloat.

To save themselves they could have done it French style... you know...

Organized a blockade of the Channel ports to demand support from their government ( suppose a SY versus a British articulated truck is no contest?...similar weight though? :D .)

It's time for the owners/supporters club to group together and put their money up and buy up a load of spares for the Scorpa Socialist workers Co-Operative....but I can't see that happening...

I think B40RT owes Dabster some money?

You dont have may positive things to say about Scopra, however a quick look through the current threads throws up few of the

carbs pi**ing petrol

main bearings gone again

stator

etc etc

I will need to check the bet, but I'm sure it was 12 months from date, pheonix / French industry - same thing !

Believe it or not personally I don't have a problem with riding a Scorpa/Scopra? ,I nearly bought a docile SY,the bike suits me 'cos I'm a bit of a plodder but here's their problem:I'm not really the target market they should have been aiming for.

New sales are won or lost on the perception of the new model :D being a developed improvement on the old.

B40RT I'm guessing you're like me and have been around the block a bit ?

I reckon that in the trials world you or I could pick any suitable bike of the last 6,7...? years to take to a trial and it would make very little difference to our marks which bike we used...

...For that reason if we all agreed to just stick with the bike we have, for some considerable time, then all the trials manufacturers are f*****! :wacko:

That's a long winded way of me saying I think that Scorpa made the smallest effort to make people want (gotta have/desire) the newest version of their bike, a fancy video just won't do.

I understand that Yam lump was very expensive (do you know how much the side casings are(were) for that motor?),I think the writing was on the wall a few years ago when they dropped about

scorpa have in recent years 'gone in search of the buck' with new developments like the t ride ( all woeful failures) whilst in the meantime sports such as enduro(hare /hounds, and cross country events) have boomed. beta have gone in the right direction, gasgas are there but the sport remains dominated by one manufacturer ktm, giving plenty of space for a competant reliable machine which could have been a scorpa..

I find it a shame that Yamaha could'nt be to Scorpa what Honda was to Montesa,then we would of had 2 very good modern Trial's Bike's to pick from today.

In reality the scorpa is probaly the best bike for the club beginner/Novice.That's probaly what scorpa thought aswell,but our mind's don't work like that these days.

I bought my second SY250 when the Beta Rev3 that replaced the first SY got through two stators in five trials from new.

That was in 2005 and I haven't found anything that suits my ability better, however I have to say that I was disapointed with the T ride trail bike that I really really wanted until.... I rode one. At

The biggest mistake i made in 2003 was selling my SY. I then went on to buy: Gas Gas, Beta, Sherco, Montesa 4rt and now i'm back with the SY. This time its an 08 and its staying with me even though i don't ride as much as i used to. I'm no hopper but i can hop this bike more than any other and it gives me confidence when ever i ride it, something the other brands hardly ever did. I've had a few offers to buy the SY, will i sell it.....no chance. If there was one thing i would change it would be to have the rear mudguard shape of the 07 bike (pointy) i like the angle makes the bike look cool but the mudguard is blue and my 08 its white. I did try and heat the rear mudguard and hold it in shape but it returned to its original shape, any ideas?

I think the gaurds bend flat alot quicker if you sit on the air box ..

I wouldnt call my scorpa docile .. with a diff jet the s3 pipe and some reed stoppers my 15th an is comparable to any 270 my 07 was abit softer .. I think every year the sy gained abit more power here and there and by the time the 15th an was released it and tweaked it has heaps of grunt ..

as for under developed I dont think thats true either .. just because the bike isnt entered into the world round its still a competative bike for most grades depending on the rider and yes the carby is hard to get out but at least you dont have to pull it apart to clean it and change plugs unlike some bikes
