Shock Question

Hope you've had a happy christmas folks

Just a quick one for an 08 rev 3. If the rear shock dampening screw is turned all the way out, so that is free from the shock body (by accident!), once put back in will it cause a performance problem? i.e. will the shock need re gassing? or is the screw just a cap head that actuates an internal valve?

I'll do my best to describe the adjustment screw. As you turn the screw in and out it moves a rod that goes down the center of shaft. The slot end that you turn has an o-ring on it as a seal that you cant see unless it is broken and you have the piece in your hand. If the screw comes completely out it's broke, and I have seen this. It you have turned the adjustment screw out till it lightly bottoms and you screw it bask in to see where it was at no problem you want lose anything.
