Gary, is that 40mm from the lip of the drum with the brake panel removed, or the inside/outside of the sprocket? Also, if you haven't put the wheel back on I'd be interested in hearing what you get from the outside of the brake panel (where it butts against the swing arm) to the rim.

Does your tire/chain clearance end up being very small with the rim/tire not looking centered in the swing arm?

cheers,

Michael

Hi Micheal Sorry i have put wheel back in bike. The 40mm measurement is with brake plate removed i put a metre steel rule across the gap then measure with another rule down to rim (hope this make sense)I have a later bultaco wheel in workshop i bought from auto jumble and that measures 40mm as well.

Thanks Gary. Can you tell me the measured width of the rim on your bike? My #159 has an unmarked Sun rim on it which is 3"/75.8mm wide. I think that ends up being a WM4/2.5" rim where the stock rim is shown as a WM2/1.85".

If I know what your rim measures I can figure out how to adjust the 40mm number for mine. Right now it looks like 28mm from the inside face of the sprocket to the rim.

cheers,

Michael
