woody Posted January 13, 2011 Report Share Posted January 13, 2011 It depends where you ride, so there is no definitive answer. Different clubs have their own ideas of what are acceptable, some don't have guidelines and are pragmatic about it, as long as no-one turns up with a GasGas front end. I think you are pretty safe anywhere with the billet yokes that various people supply as the pinch bolts are inside the stanchions and can't be seen anyway as they fit from the back. These seem to be acceptable for the clubs that have the most stringent rules, Red Rose, Yorkshire Classic and Pre65 Scottish. If your yokes don't meet the criteria you just go in the specials class (not the Scottish obviously) Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
old trials fanatic Posted January 13, 2011 Report Share Posted January 13, 2011 Think you'll find most Classic Clubs in the East Midlands Centre, apart from us, like the pinch bolts between the stantions like Montesa not outside the stantions like OSSA. old trials fanatic Posted January 14, 2011 Report Share Posted January 14, 2011 So are Montesa yokes ok for the Scotish Forget about Scotland cross that bridge if ever you come to it. Scotland is a one off basically by invitation only event that has it's own set of rules and eligability criteria and you dont build a bike just in case you are ever "lucky" enough, hundreds arent every year, to be allowed to ride in their trial. Just build a bike as economically in the spirit of the 60's as you can and ride it. Ossa forks and Montesa yokes or even Ossa ones will do as will wheels. Just dont use any Jap forks that are too long or the sliders project below the spindle. As long as you dont take the pi55 you'll be fine. At the risk of annoying some Alan Whitton, other suppliers also exist, does Billet yokes with various offsets to take 35mm stantions.
