Testing Thermostat

hello. i have a 2006 txt pro and the fan isnt working. i have tested the fan on a battry and it worked so i want to check the thermostat. do i need to remove the thermostat from the radiator to connect the two wires together or can i do it without removing it? thanks

Take it off the bike and put it in boiling water and then you should see a continuity between the terminals when it's hot.

In fact before you take it off just bridge the terminals while the bike is running and the fan should come on. If it does then its the stat at fault if it doesn't then it would probably be the rectifier..

For sure yes defo would appear to be the thermo...

If the fan motor is the same as the earlier models (I'm not sure) then the how2 motor replacement at the strt of this forum is well worth a look!

I did mine without any real problem. Last thing you want is a failed fan and overheating!
