1985 Ty250 Stripdown ?

Today I finally got both TY250s working and was chuffed to buggery.

But one wouldn't select any gears so I gave the lever a hefy push, and it sort of fell off. The shaft snapped leaving about an inch sticking out.

First thought was to get it welded back on, but there is aforementioned oli seal about an inch away. Is welding a possibility ?

Anyway, I got the engine on the bench now and merrily started stripping it down. Got head and barrels off before me belly told me it was food time.

I haven't done any engine work reallly, since my racing days in the 80s

I noticed that the casings split vertically, not horizontally like my old LCs and YPVS Yamahas.

Do these engines need lots of special tools to get bits off ?

IS rebuild simple enough ?

Is setting the ignition timing on rebuild quite easy ?

Should I take it to me local mechanic and give him some dosh to rebuild it?

Anybody got a workshop manual ?

Sorry for so many questions

I have a manual somewhere..... Where are you ?

I am in Thame in Oxfordshire. I would like to buy the manual. How much ?

By the way, I have just found out that the gear shaft is an easy job. Puill off the clutch and it slides in there :)

Just bought one off Ebay for £8.
