Front Brake Has Locked On ?

Today the front brake lever started to feel more and more firm with limited movement, and then eventually the front brake locked up completely.

Has anybody got any idea what it could be ?

Is there some sort of release valve that may have failed and is not allowing the fluid to flow back out of the calliper ?

It's a 2004 Beta Rev3.

Is there free play at the lever before it pushes the piston on M/C Have seen similar problem with rust stopping the M/C piston fully returning releasing the brake pressure holding the pads on causing heat in the calliper making more pressure in the system then no go Does no take a lot under the little rubber boot to do this

It does sound like the brakes are dragging a bit, thus heating up the pushes the brakes on harder. One thing to look for in addition to those mentioned by others. Check the pads for uneven wear. I had a set of pads wear on a taper from front to back and when they got worn enough, the metal of the pads would wedge in the caliper and not release properly.
