Our Next Possible Trials Engine?

How cool is this!?! I love the idea of a rotary and worked on several as our race car in college was an Rx7. Maybe not enough torque for our needs but when your flywheel out powers the power plant then you can make up for some of that.

Take away the apex seals and let the thing breathe!

Thoughts?

The idea is not a new one but a very refined one.

The rotary in the RX8 is very torquey, I thought it would be a bit slow being a non turbo, I've driven lots of the turbo 7 rotary's so the bottom end in the 8 was a real suprise.

I think a 4 stroke with Variable inlet and exhaust timing like Honda's v-tech would be the way forward. Bottom end grunt with more top end scream.

Direct quote from the liquidpiston.com website "LiquidPiston’s X Engine is a non-****el rotary embodiment of the company’s innovative High Efficiency Hybrid Cycle (HEHC). The X Engine has few parts and three combustion events per rotor revolution, resulting in tremendous power density."

If you are a W@nker, this engine is not for you.......................
