desperado Posted February 23, 2006 Report Share Posted February 23, 2006 Seeking some advice from you guys especially up north that have large entries (150 plus) in a conventional multi lap trial in a relativly small quarry or wood venue. What is the best way to avoid riders waiting in numbers at section starts and keeping the trial moving. Given a breakdown of 60 Sportsmen / 60 Clubman / 30 Inters / 30 expert for example Is it best 10 section over 4 laps or 13 sections over 3 laps?. Start everyone together at section one or split entry up?. If split what is best way - Riders 1-10 section 1 / 11-20 section 2 etc or different classes start at different sections ie Sportsman (beginners)section 1 / Clubman section 4 / Inters section 8 / Experts section 12 (based on 13 sections) Give me your thoughts please. ned1 Posted February 23, 2006 Report Share Posted February 23, 2006 i prefer it when the experts start at one section and everyone else at another because the sections don't get too busy and you can talk more with the other riders around you because they are all your ability level. neils on wheels Posted February 23, 2006 Report Share Posted February 23, 2006 A higher number of sections ridden over fewer laps (as you say 3 x 13 rather than 4 x 10) will give less queues as more riders can be in sections simultaneously. In terms of splitting up the entry then I would choose to do it by the route ridden; all the A route guys at section 1, all the B routers at section 6 for example. Yes it is better to have more sections because the queue should be shorter at each one, but this can sometimes mean that you nead 4 more observers to do 3x12 rarther than 5x8 which some clubs do. rabie Posted February 24, 2006 Report Share Posted February 24, 2006 at our busiest trial (130 - inc chairs and experts) do 18 to 20 sections and send evens one section 1 and odd to section 9 or 10 - mixing all classes up we manage to do 2 laps comfortably in winter with time to spare, but don't feel we can take more than 120/130 otherwise you do get queueing rabie Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
