Sunday 2nd November 2014 at Bracken Rocks, Holloway, in Derbyshire, saw the 6th and final round of the YMSA 2014 calendar with a classy turn out of riders, the weather was extremely kind at the time of the event but some over night heavy rain made for a slippy course of 12 sections, that were extremely well set out with large number of the riders commenting on the quality of the trial overall. The event catered for a large section of the trials riding community offering routes for A class, Experts, B class, Intermediates, C class, Youth Novice, Adult Novice, D class and 50/50.
Following a year that was fraught with turmoil, it was good to see Barry Burton back at the helm along with a new committee to help keep things running smoothly.
From an early 9.30AM start Tom Minta and Toby Martin were neck and neck throughout the trial with Tom taking the A class on the day by just 6 points. The Expert route saw Jack Price and Billy Bolt having a similar tussle with Jack winning the day again by just 6 points.
Having already secured the YMSA C Class 2014 championship 12 year old Daniel Slack turned out to be the star of the day riding up into B class and winning by a sizeable margin at his first attempt in this class on his new MRS Sherco 125. MRS must surely be proud of their latest addition to their team.
Over in the Intermediates Lawrence Wright put in a great performance to win with a score of 56 the lowest of the day pushing Ian Robinson into 2nd place.
In C class Jack Dance, Alice Minta, and Harry Bowyer all put in some very hard work with Jack coming through to win the day. Kieran Mcdaid had a good steady ride to take the Youth Novice trophy. In Adult Novice Nigel Allen had some fun and took the win over Stuart Walker. In D class Josh taylor was hot on the heals of Ashton Brightmore with Ashton hanging on to take the win by a mere 2 points. Lastly but by no means least 50/50 Dale Freeman put in a very good performance to win with a very creditable 77. A huge thank you must go out to the Observers on the day without whom we cannot run the events.
