Lancs County Open New Air-Cooled Series

lancs countyThe new ACU Air-Cooled Trials Championship opens with the Angela Redford Trial organised by Lancs County MCC on GOOD FRIDAY, March 25 at their very popular Brookhouse Brickworks venue with a start time of 10.30am.

Unlike another series, this is a genuine BRITISH CHAMPIONSHIP where the winners in the four available classes can genuinely call themselves a British Champion and will be invited to the end of year ACU Awards Presentation held at the National Motorcycle Museum.

Brookhouse Brickworks is a great venue for this class of trial with a decent, all off-road lap length and a great variety of sections. Two laps of up to 20 sections will be used and previous riders in the Normandale series will be very familiar with the land where parking is superb on gravel roads linking the wind farm turbines.

As a reminder, there are four classes: Class A - Any air-cooled machine (Example Yamaha TY250 Mono with disc brake and similar machines); Class B - Any air-cooled machine plus one of criteria points (Example Yamaha TY 250 Mono with drum brakes and similar machines); Class C - Any air-cooled machine plus two of criteria points (Example Yamaha TY 250 with drum brakes and twin-shocks,. Bultaco Sherpa, Montesa 348/349, Fantic 240/300 etc); Class D - Any air-cooled machine plus three of criteria points (Example James/BSA/Francis Barnet with twin-shocks, drum brakes and British engine).

The criteria poionts are: Twin-shocks, Drum Brakes, British Engine.

In this first year there are just two rounds, with the second being organised by the Spen Valley club on April 24, so there's no need to make long term commitments with a requirement to travel up and down the country many times through the year.
