The World Trial Championship 2005 will go down in history because of a unique circumstance, a 4 stroke machine is going back to the top competitions. From the decade of the 80’s, the 2 stroke engines won progressively the leading role in the World Trial Championship. However, despite the pressure from these manufacturers, Eddy Lejeune won 3 world titles consecutively in ’82, ’83 & ’84 on board the Honda RTL equipped with a 4 stroke engine.

Nevertheless, since 1985 the 2 stroke domination has been absolute. It has been necessary to wait 2 decades to see a valve engine at the top of the podium, this is a honour which belongs to Montesa.

Montesa has been the first and the only brand participating with a 4 stroke machine in the World Trial Championship 2005, showing a very high level of competitiveness performing against the well proved and undisputed two stroke engines.

The high performance reached by the Montesa Cota 4RT in the World Championship has a special significance because it is the only 4 stroke machine participating, and it will mark a turning point in this sport.

Because of this, Montesa Honda S.A. wants to offer to the fans of this sport and followers of Repsol Montesa HRC Team 500 units of a limited edition replica of Montesa Cota 4RT works machines ridden by T.Fujinami, D.Lampkin, M.Freixa & L.Sanz in the World Trial Championship 2005.
