Abergavenny Auto Club

abergavenny 17th feb 2013A fine Sunny day greeted a 40 rider turn out for Abergavenny Auto clubs first trial of the year at Haffod Farm Brynmawr which also incorporated the first round of the East South Wales Centre Championship.

Club members had put in lot of work in leading up to the trial and added a couple of new groups  helping to expand the already substantial loop further still, there were quite a few tired bodies by the end of the 3 laps of 10 sections but all feedback received was positive at this excellent venue.

Every one of the ten sections was cleaned at least once on each route but as the results show, consistency coupled with the adoption of the no stop rules meant the winner of each route lost marks. The trial turned into a bit of a family affair with Joel Edwards topping the event and the expert line up with a superb ride and a trial total of 14 marks lost, 2nd was Jason Galvin with Gareth Rogers 3rd.

Only one schoolboy Jacob Isaac took on the expert route and there were some big banks for rider and the little 125 to cope with.

Welshtrials.com, Dai Collins loss of 35 was good enough to take the clubman masters win from Andrew Hayward.

Ioan Heycock was the only schoolboy on the clubman masters route again struggling on the little 125 on the banks of section 9.

Joel’s uncle Gary Morgan topped the Clubman entry on 15 from Ashley Reed with Gary Batol third.

Andrew Holvey just piped Alex Marsh with 38 and 39 dropped respectively on the sportsman masters route.

Gary’s Morgan’s daughter Lois took 2nd spot on the sportsman route following a tie break decision over a Dai Clothier 3rd.   Both were however beaten by Francis Walters who dropped just 2 marks to take the sportsman win with son Robert Walters also taking the clubman youth class from Mason Pritchard and Ieiran Heycock.

On the Sportsman Youth Mathew Pritchard piped Jake Roberts for the win.

The twinshock lads enjoyed a good ride around Rob Cobley took the win from Mark Evans and Kevin Pettit who both extended their ride by riding their bikes to and from the event old style!

Next Trial 9th June - venue to be confirmed Format will be the same 10 sections a good loop over 3 laps.
