Scott Trial Shirty's Say

gas-gas-in-articleI had two runners well up for the win in the Scott Trial this year with Doug and Michael.

Doug knew he couldn’t match the speed of Michael but he was confident he could be best on observation like last year.

He set off with a decent pace with a speed he knew he could sustain for the whole race which he did until he hit something at speed approx 2/3rds the way round. He compressed his spine which affected his vision and he started to lose a lot of marks. He also smashed his left foot baby toe which wasn’t a concern until he took his boot off back at base.

At the finish Doug was very unhappy convinced throwing marks away late on had cost him the win. He then took his boot off and found his baby toe literally hanging off. An operation yesterday was needed.

Doug did the professional thing and went to the presentation to claim The Alfred Scott memorial Trophy and the Manufactures Team award which was won by JST GAS GAS with Doug, Michael and Wiggy.

I was a very proud man when I heard the results late Saturday night. Well done and thank you Doug.

JST GGUK No.1 rider Michael Brown was 4th which I'm proud of him for because he also rode a lot of trial in pain after hurting his dodgy knee again. He was flying until that happened and things were going perfect until then. A quick wheel change after Grouse moor after slicing the

rear tyre sent him back on a mission until he twisted his knee. He didn’t know the section name but it was before Faggergill where he told me. I raced to Bridgend with some pain killers. He lost quite a bit of time when he got to Bridgend and I didn’t expect him to carry on much further. He also fived the new section at Bridgend which didn’t help. He carried on regardless knowing that it’s the last big event of the year and he did not want to let anyone down. I guess with Yorkshire grit, painkillers and pride he was desperate to finish.

Sam Haslam was next best JST gasser in 6th which was a superb result. He went really well on time and rode with a blocked pilot jet nearly all day so respect for that and well done.

Dan Thorpe JSTGG was again in the top 10 finishing 10th. A good observation score made up for his ‘steady’ pace.

Alexz Wigg had a nightmare with punctures, spinning tyres etc. He was 15th and helped win the Team Award.

Good pal Martin Crosswaite (GG) sweated his way round and finished a creditable 20 and a Scott spoon.

JSTGG teamster and local rider Jack Stones also won a Scott spoon in 23rd. He drowned his bike before Surrender which is all good experience is this crazy Trial.

GG girl Katy Sunter finished yet another Scott Trial finishing a creditable 61st.

Well done again to Doug and to all Scott finishers.

BIG thanks to Factory Kev for prepping the winning Teams bikes.
