36 riders attended what was to be the last RRND trial at this venue. Doug Chandler, the land owner, is in the process of selling the farm and the new owners have no interest in trials or any other motor sport.
Scott and James Dark assisted by myself set out the normal 8 sections on the Saturday ready for the trial on Sunday.
With the comments from the November trial here still ringing in my ears I set out what I thought was a reasonably easy blue route, even commenting to Debbie on Saturday evening that Sunday should be a easy day.
This turned out to be a complete misconception!, as I had a wonderful dart score of 123! Pat Lloyd-Jacobs led the way on the blue route with the loss of just 17 marks.
Scott Dark pipped Stuart Read for honours on the white route losing 39, Stuart was a little miffed as this is a rare occurence.
John Yardley was out on his own on the red route with just 14 followed by Mark Alway on 30.
Stan Metcalf had a few 5's which pushed up his score a bit but still a good ride on the Triumph. Mike Hammond managed cleans on sections 5, 7 and 8 which is commendable as he's moving up from the yellow route and was improving as the day went on.
Rachel Measures and Simon Canacott were shown the way home, on the yellow route, by recently returned to trials Trevor Edge, with Young Tom Oakley having some good cleans on his TY80. Phil's TY250 was not being quite so reliable, retiring at the end of the 4th lap.
A couple of changes were made to the blue route after 2 laps. A gate over the tractor tyres on section 3 was taken out as the tyres were like a vice and kept closing up over the sump guards. A gate was also taken out on section 4 after Antony Read tried to eat the tree and a couple of other riders had come to grief.
I hope everyone had a good day and I apologise for getting the blue route wrong again!
Next trial is at Blacklands Farm on the 23rd March with Pete Jenkins' Team setting out, that must be a relief!
