Ron Carter

Long standing Stroud Valley Motor Club member Ron Carter passed away on 15th March 2015. Ron joined The Stroud Valley Club in the early 1950's after his National Service and remained an active club member for the rest of his life. The chairman at the time was the legendary Harry Baughan, and Ron often recounted how the chairman's permission was needed before one could speak at club meetings.

Ron's first love was scrambling and he was an enthusiastic helper when Stroud Valley Club ran events. He was always a willing volunteer when a working party was needed, and was fully committed to the Stroud Valley Club, The Western Centre of The Auto Cycle Union and the ACU itself. He was for many years an ACU recognised national scrutineer and noise meter operator and this took him to many local and national events.

Ron served as Vice President of The Western Centre ACU for many years and was elected President Emeritus shortly before his death.

Ron loved all aspects of motorcycle sport and worked tirelessly to promote it locally and nationally.
