Barcelona Set For World's Best

riders barcelonaThe former Olympic Stadium of Palau St. Jordi in the Catalan capital of Barcelona will later today to play host to the third round of the 2014 FIM X-Trial Championship. With no wildcard riders, it will be down to the eight fixed riders to battle it out across the course of seven technical sections.

 

Earlier today, the draw was made for the pairings of which riders will go head to head with each other in the qualifying stages. They are:

 

Jorge Casales – Gas Gas vs  Jernoi Fajardo – Beta
Loris Gubian – Ossa vs Adam Raga – Gas Gas
James Dabill – Beta vs Albert Cabestany – Sherco
Takahisa Fujinami – Repsol Montesa HRC vs Toni Bou – Repsol Montesa HRC
 
The opening six sections will determine the six riders for the semi-final, with the four winners of the qualifying pairings being joined by the two best losers. Those six riders will then battle it out over a further four hazards to decide who makes it through to the four man final, which will be made up of the three semi-final winners plus the best loser at that stage of the competition.
 
A dual lane race will be used both in the semi-final and final to determine the running order of the riders for each of these closing stages.
 
Along with the FIM X-Trial World Championship, the venue will also today play host to a round of the FIM SuperEnduro World Championship, making for a packed programme for off-road fans.
