British Championship Round 3 Preview

Stt Davids 13 052The Third Round of the British Trial Championship moves to beautiful Swaledale, where  Richmond Motor Club will host a traditional No Stop Trial.  Andrew Brown is Clerk of the Course and he is hoping that the Richmond Motor Club can show that No Stop, can be and should be the future of trials.  It promises to be an exciting trial especially if Michael Brown is fit to ride as he and James Dabill  jostle for the number 1 spot. Both are currently on 37 points apiece having taken a win and a second.

Ross Danby has also been consistency itself with two podium slots at the West of England and St David's events. Ross rides with the number 3 jacket this year after a successful 2012 on the Jotagas and he has carried that form and confidence through to this season. Fourth place in the series is currently being held by Sam Connor as he holds off a whole clutch of younger riders. Look out also for Jonathan Richardson as this is as local as it can get for him. He seems to be enjoying the Ossa and after virtually a year out with injury last year he will be very determined to keep posting good results.

With Jack Stones on home territory he too will be hoping to take advantage of the Expert Competition, though Darren Brice a previous Reeth Three Day Champion has plenty of experience of the Low Row venue. Brice leads the Expert class by just 2 points from Stones who had a superb day down in the Welsh valley's in the previous round. There are plenty of other potential winners in the group as Tom Affleck, Richard Timperley, Josh Woods and Buster Regan have all previously taken wins at this level.

Spectators should pop DL11 6NH in their Sat Navs and head out to Low Row, catering is available both in the Start Field and also in the local pub, so make a day of it and enjoy an excellent day of trialling in a magnificent setting.

Remember there is no longer any Saturday practise sessions and the event itself will start at 9.30 Sunday as riders head out for 3 laps of 12 sections. There is as always a 2 hour 30 minute time limit on lap 1.

2013 has seen two excellent trials in the series so far and you can be sure that Richmond are doing everything they can to carry on a superb Championship. With no less than 28 riders entered for the Championship, 27 in the Experts and 5 Youth competitors it should be a superb day.
