Introduce Yourself

Created by request - a place for new users to say hello before diving into the melee!

  1. Started by leginboots,

It seems customary to introduce yourself, so I am doing a quick note to say hello. I have discovered trials late in life and purchased a twin shock rather than a modern bike - old bike for an old bloke! Have a 1977 Montesa 348, which has surprised me on a few occasions, but other than a couple of niggling problems has proven rock solid. I am still very much in the 'L' plate stages of trials, but it is still a heck of a buzz to ride a bike on some of the terrain we practice on. Any way to the point of joining initially - a question - does anyone know the reason for 'phantom neutrals' on a 348 gearbox? On some occasions the gearbox seems to slip into neutral, when you h…

Hi everyone, I'm currently attempting to restore a Sprite/ American eagle 405 talon. I believe it shares many of the parts with a Sprite trials. I'm also hoping to get a trials project at some point throughout 2019, I quite like the idea of a Dalesman scout but I'll keep my options open for now. Many thanks

I'm an aging trials nut who has not ridden a bike for years, and I miss it like hell! Originally from South Cumbria in the north of England, my main riding years were between 1976 and 1989. I was lucky enough to take part in some great events and had some fantastic friends with who the fun and banter was second to none. although I managed to gain only an Intermediate rating with my riding, I rode in several national events in the UK, and sat waiting to ride courses alongside five world champions. My one big ambition was to take part in the SSDT, but this was never realised. I'm now waiting for a knee replacement, and hope that it might give me that new lease of life that …

Hi, I gave up playing with trials bikes in the late 80's when other things started placing demands on my money, mortgages and the like. In those days I had to buy cheap and repair and my bikes included an OSSA 250, TY175 and a Fantic 240 (wish I still had that looking at the prices they go for). Anyway, my step son decided he would like to give it a go and that was all the encouragement I needed. We now have a 2006 Beta Rev 3 125 and a 99 Montesa 315R. I have a load of questions, most of which are around teaching a 14 year old to ride (and for that matter a 46 year old!!!) but I will have a good search before posting in the appropriate forum. Greetings all, Newbie here. I've always admired the sport of trials, but never even imagined getting into it myself until Fortnine's video on the subject came out a couple years ago. That video struck a spark, and meeting local officials and getting to try balancing on a trials bike at the MP2024 motorcycle expo in February lit the flame. I found myself watching more and more videos on trials, drooling at a very cool Beta Techno for sale and doing more and more research, until one day I was doing a road trip to Porvoo with my 125cc scooter in tow to trade in for that Techno! For want of stiffer springs to suit my weight, proper boots and a tow bar for my car, …

Allo, Allo, c'est Reuben. I'm not actually French, but anyways.... -Have been thrust into trials. I knew it would happen someday... just didn't expect it last Wednesday. Not that there's anything wrong with this. No, not at all... Got a call from a nephew of Uncle Dave, who passed away in '84, whom I ran into at one of the Vintage TT weekends here in Nova Scotia about eight years ago..... won't bore you avec the details, but uncle Dave introduced me to 'Real Motorcycles'....I was scrummaging around on my paperroute bought CT200 when he happened along and offered me a ride....I was 11. I had recently learned the theory of the clutch, but had yet to put it into…
