At the moment i'm still riding Hare scrambles/enduro's and sadly i don't actually own a trials bike just yet, but i'm on the look out for one [hence me lurking on here] with the intention to compete in a few trials between enduros etc. I thought it's only right to say Hi in here first before posting anywhere else [good manners and what not] - So Hello everyone Great site, loads of helpfull info, keep up the good work. I'm hoping that someone on this forum can help - I have a Montesa 309 which I obtained about a year ago it was in a very poorly state overall. After much mechanical restoration work, it is now nearly ready to go but the wiring is a mess ( had been butchered in the past) & it appears to have a regulator / rectifier which looks like it doesn't belong to the bike. I am unable to make any sense of it & need a circuit diagram of the wiring for this bike to see what it should & shouldn't have in the ignition circuit. Any body got a wiring diagram for this bike ? If you can - please help an old duffer get this old ( ish) bike up & running again. Cheers - D…

Did quite a bit in the late seventies and early eighties. Couple of years ago intended to get back into it. Now on my third bike - a lovely 76 TY 250 but not done one trial - how lame is that ?. Don't know anyone who is keen and can't see the Mrs up to her neck in mud !. Anyone around North Worcestershire in a similar boat ?. Or does anybody know of any clubs / groups.

Hi, My name's Lou and I've just bought a Beta 125 after loving a brief 'have a go' session at the NEC. I've ridden road bikes for the last 18 years but this will be my first go at off-roading or anything that doesn't require me to go flat out! I'm looking to join a local club and have a go at some beginner trials, but I've got no real trials experience whatsoever, so I'm not sure just how 'beginner' they cater for! Any thoughts appreciated! Thanks, Lou

Ian Huntly, a long time trials enthusiast from Johannesburg, South Africa. I haven't ridden competitively for more than 20 years, but still have my Gas Gas 320. Just bought an Aprilia Climber 240 "to get riding again at least in the very seniors class. Will be pestering for sources for parts for both, eg the Aprilia needs new clutch plates.

Er, just joined. So, apparently, the next step is to introduce myself... Well, I'm an old (60!) trials fart who used to wobble around in the SE Centre as a member of the Sunbeam Club, most recently on a 250 Greeves (but before that, various Bultacos, a Jim Susans HT5 Ariel, etc., etc.,). Then, last year, I emigrated to France. Having sold my Greeves before moving, I then found myself trials-bike-less for the first time in about forty years. Suddenly realising that life was hardly worth living without a trials bike, I started looking around... Spotted a mint 250 RTL Honda on French eBay going for about five grand. Tempting, but decided it was a bit pricey and it'd be a sh…

Just purchased Montesa Cota 200 with engine/frame number 29M02572. I'd appreciate any help in finding out year of manufacture and what the actual numbers/letter(s) mean. Many thanks in advance.

Hey everybody! I'm a semi-pro Sportbike Freestyle rider who's looking for a new chalenge! I've been intrigued by Trials for years, and I want to buy my first Trials bike. I have really good throttle and brake control compared to most novice trials riders due to my experience with Sportbike Freestyle and I'm wondering which bike I should start on. There's a 1993 Gas Gas GT12 and a 1992 Gas Gas GT32 for sale somewhat close by. They're both priced at $1200 (thought I'm sure I can talk them down.) Which one would be a better starter bike for someone such as myself? I'm not a big guy (5'10", 180lbs) but like I said I think I would take to this pretty quickly due to my experi…

Just got a GasGas (used) to play on. Will need lots of help with both how to ride it and how to fix it. It's gonna need some work. Right now trying to get the clutch reworked. Can't get the stink'n little bolts out of the clutch basket to take it apart. Wonderful! They are soo tight and the wrench is so little. I think the heads are stripping out, might have to drill them out. Wish I could ride it instead of working on it.

...and back again. Looking forward to getting stuck in to a few South Midland Centre trials this year. Not been near a trial in that time as work commitments and a few other sports got in the way. I was riding clubman class back then. No idea what the standard is now. Have sections changed much? What are the entry levels like in SMC? Bought a new Montesa 4RT which I have only ridden down to the village shop so far. Went for it as the quality seems so much better than the other bikes out there. And a bit of a Montesa loyalist having had a 172, 311 and three 315's back in the day. So the 4RT is my first proper trials 4 stroke and, apart from a TLR200 and minter …

Hello Trials forum: I just signed up. I hope everyone is having a great weekend. I would call myself an eccentric collector of a little of everything... In the dirt on 2 wheels I currently have: 1) an '72 Ossa MAR 250 that I found in a guy's shed. It is pretty complete. The fenders had been sawn off for some reason and it had no spark. I put a new ignition in it and just because ordered the one with lighting output. The bike has no lighting on it now and I want to install just because... Are wiring harnesses available as well as lighting hardware? WHat should I do for a voltage regulator. I would go with original/replica preferably. 2) The rest of my off road tw…

I've had my Beta for a year now and I am hooked on Trials. A couple weeks ago, with the wife's permission, I bought 4 tons of boulders for the backyard. So now I try to ride once a day. I have at least 15 trials videos I watch regularly which is driving the wife crazy. Anyways, this site is great! Tomorrow I'll try out the carb fix I found here and go for a backyard spin.

Hi all, Based in South Island NZ. Have an old Aprillia TX 280 (still not working) and just bought a TY250 (Scottish) and found the forum when looking for info on the bike. I guess it was designed for the SSDT? Trials competition here is more limited than in the UK but there is a good local group of enthusiasts so looking forward to trying the bike. We now have a good dump of snow on the hills so it will be my first snow trial! Or is that trial by snow? Cheers Iain
