Introduce Yourself

Hi all, I'm a bit of a fringe dweller of the trials, seem to dip in and out of it as there's no clubs remotely around where I live. If there was, I'd be in the thick of it. Was in Tassie for a little bit and was introduced to trials bikes some years ago, loved it and bought one. I love the old stuff and found myself a Montesa Cota, which is the thing that brings me here, as Ive just pulled it back out and am doing a resto. Good to be here!

Hi all, I've just joined the group as i am seriously thinking of getting into Trials. I ride a lot of motocross mainly practice days but a bit of racing sometimes. I really fancy a change and have wanted to do trials for some time. Anyone on here from Berkhamsted? Which is where i am based. I know there a local track near me which would be handy to ride to. Also my mother has a large place in Devon which would be ideal for take a bike to, plus all the Greenlanes around there. Question, are practice like MX tracks, you just turn up, pay your money and ride? Or do you have to have someone you know with you when you go to a practice event? Many thanks …

used to do abit of trialin when i were younger, also got into downhill mountainbiking..... did more bikin than trialin, now decided a couple of years down the line for trials bike, sherco 290 actually. anyone who knows any decent practice venues in the east midlands let me know!! cheers gaz

Hi, at the age of 65 I am wanting to have a go at trials (only the begginer sections I expect) having a bit of a dodgy back I want the lightest bike that my tall frame will allow. As it will be the easy sections I doubt that power will be an issue and have been looking at 125 cc but I was wondering if an adult could ride the beta senior big wheel 80 cc. I am guessing this would be very light ?? Best regards David

Hey guys! Let me start off with the name. My name is Jason and The 26incher stands for Old school BMX 26 inch bikes. I'm kinda well known in the BMX community as a total tard and I'm sure that will show here. I need some help with a project I have. I have a Honda TLR200 that I tricked out a little. I'm looking for the smallest size rear sprocket I can find. I thought I found a 42 tooth on e bay last night but today I can't find it! I would really like to find something smaller like maybe a 32, 34 or 36. Also, has anyone bumped up the front sprocket to a 14 tooth? With the cover, it doesen't look like there is much room? Hello all, I have been lurking on here for a while (I may have had an ID at one time but can't remember) and had abandoned trials for a couple of years. Well I am trying to get back to task. I miss trials and trials people. I am not a strong rider but eagerly look forward to getting bikes for me and my oldest. My youngest already has an Oset 16" and learning to ride. We live in Northern Colorado and will ride a few events with RMTA and WMTA in '09 if we can find a couple bikes at a reasonable price.... lol Take care! -Judson

Hi - just picked up a 'barn find' TY175 with intent to have some fun tinkering and with a vague idea of refurbing and having a go at twinshock trials. I got given it by a work colleague and have been told its never been road registered. The engine and frame numbers match, frame and tank are badly corroded, engine has compression but I've not tried starting it as I want to strip it down and clean it / check it over first. I'll post up some before pics as well as any progress updates. I'll also be posting up queries so any advice gratefully received. Thanks, Mark

Hi Folks The names Iain from Aberdeenshire. I have just bought a 2006 Gas Gas 250 Pro for messing about on over the winter and hopefully get into some club trails next year once I am back up to speed. I used to have a GAS Gas 320 way back in 2001 but was a bit to powerful for me at the time and I wiped myself out and have not been near one since. Anyway here is a pick of the bike.

Hi everyone, i have not yet got a bike, i will be having one after xmass but i need some information first, i'm 51 this year and keep thinking may be i'm to old so i could do with some of the older members input about age, also things have moved on a bit since i had my last trials bike, it was a Bultaco 350 about 30 years ago so i'v been looking at Gasgas, Sherco and beta, they all look very much the same so any information on them would be great, good and bad, an important thing to me is how easy can i get parts for my bike and how easy is it to fix myself, also Montesa look the part, so anything on these four bikes would be a great help. Hello I've spent many hours enjoying reading posts until my eyes are like p*** holes in snow... I grew up in Yorkshire riding Bultos and Ossas. I explained to my wife that I grew up riding with the Lampkins (I think I saw a couple of them across a wet field, 400 yds away...?) and it is my right to start riding trials after a brief lay-off, 42 years to be precise. I live in Hertfordshire these days. I've bought an '85 TLR200 thinking I'd ride twin-shock events and restore the bike and improve at the same time. Hello every one. I have been registered for a while now, but I never fully explored the Forum sections. Very nice to find manufacturer specific postings. I have several vintage trials bikes. A 1975 Suzuki RL250 which I purchased new. Also a 1975 Honda TL250 that I received from my cousin, who was the original owner of that. I didn't restore them but did "recondition" them. I presently also have a 2008 Honda CRF150F which I bought because my knee does not like the kick starter. At the present time I am working on restoring my son's 1977 Yamaha TY250. How doo just got back into trials riding i am 47 not had a trials bike for 30 yrs (old git) i used to have a greaves with a villiers engine what a differenece just got a scorpa easy totally different to the old bultacos and ossas however yesteray my beloved scorpa easy packed up no points to mess with couldnt even bump it off long push back to the van gasp gasp bones aching ankle sore bad back love it bring it on thumbs up to trials riding nice one jez

Hi All Im new to these 2 stroke thingies. Bought a Beta TR34 (i think) from ebay. Sold as a project bike so not expecting too much. I did however expect to go forwards. The bike just about runs but wont rev cleanly at all. Climb onboard, clutch in, into gear & bike goes backward through my legs. After much laughter from all around it sinks in I may have bought a lemon or something from a circus act. The engineer in me says how is this possible. I assume if the spark happens in the wrong place there is nothing to stop the engine going backwards. Seeing the other posts on the site this is not uncommon. Guess I need to check the timing etc. Does any one have a work…

Hi All Returning to trials after 20 odd years and I'm still no good! But the atmosphere seems much friendlier these days and with plenty of wobblers routes around now, I'm hoping to beat the odd 8 year old....
