I gave in and bought a ‘16 Sherco 300 ST this week. BVM in Stroud dropped it off this afternoon. Straight onto fundamentals!

  3. good morning everyone, I am in mid Bedfordshire, which having looked around various forums does not appear to be a trials hot spot but never mind, having finally decided to finish my 65 tiger cub project which has been on and off for 30 years , passed over by many other bike and car restorations, can anyone give me some information regarding clearance of rear wheel and chain guard to swinging arm, I have a Sammy Miller widened swinging arm, and chain guard, rear sprocket spacer, and rear tyre is 4.00x18 , what I would like to know is what the actual distance you all have between chain guard and tyre, and between the tyre and frame on both sides, any information would be…

Hello everyone, Bought myself a Montesa Cota 247 project yesterday and joined the site today. I've found loads of handy advice already. The bike was being sold as an Ulf Karlson replica but I was dubious about that. It also has the odd distinction of the rear brake and gear levers being on the left. The frame number 21M3454 is 1971 when the brake was on the left and gears on the right. I'm guessing the frame and engine numbers should match. If so this suggests the engine (21M21916) is from a 1976 when the gears were on the left, hence the strange lever set-up. It ain't no Karlson rep. I'll tart her up a bit and ride her anyway. Here she is

Hello I just bought a 250 Alpina (1974), no fenders, no electricity, few spokes broken but running engine. Of course, I will need some advices and feedbacks from this forum: First subject will be the seals for the crankshaft. I did in the past few bikes , and riding every day my 175KE (1976), I know my project will need months (probably years). I live near Princeton (NJ USA), Thank you

Hi One and All, I am a newbie to Trials. However, in my youth I was a motocross and enduro rider.....but that was 40 years ago. Some years ago I bought a Gas Gas 280 TXT 2000 yr model for my youngest son. He developed no interest in Trials. So the bike sat for many years in our summer home in Colorado. We sold that house and brought all our stuff back to Alvin (a community outside of Houston) recently. The bike was calling me and I began getting it ready to ride. As you all know - bikes do not like to sit - the entire front and back brake system had to be redone (thanks to Jim Snell for all of his knowledge and support and parts!!!) . Anyway, at some point …

Hi, my names Matt. Went to my first meeting yestersay - with the Blackmore Vale TC. I was well impressed! Seemed like a very nice bunch of people - and the sport in general looks great fun! I have ridden trail/supermoto bikes for a number of years, and my 5 year old son is beginning to get into bikes - and I would like to get into a sport that we can both enjoy together. So I'm thinking that trial riding might be the way forward... Cheers - Matt.

Been teaching my son to ride, starting on an OSET Spyder 16, and then a TXT 50 Boy, and now a TXT 80 Cadet. I used to following him in the hills here in Summerland, B.C., Canada on my GG EC300. I now have a 2008 TXT 300 Pro for my aging and "bigger" body. It's been a blast learning the basics; slower is more fun. Keen on linking up with others here in the sunny Okanagan. Cheers. Dale.

Hi All, New here, this is my first time posting on here. I was searching for a Vintage Trials Forum and found you folks. Looking forward to participating. I am 66 years old, retired and in the process of.... I don't know if I would call it restoring, but I am cleaning up, painting, replacing tires, new decals etc. on my 1974 Suzuki RL250. I am the original and only owner of this bike. I never really rode trials but for the first 10 years I had this I did a lot of woods and trail riding, and as my family grew I sort of put it on the back burner for a while. When I wore out my first set of tires I replaced them with full blown knobbies, replaced the thin seat for so…
