Hello. Similar to many others I have used the site a lot and thought it time to join. I bought my Bultaco Frontera back in 1986 for £100. It was in bad shape but still worked. This was all pre internet days and I was only 21 but I did have enough sense to buy the Haynes competition manual. Other than being very tatty the main problem back then was difficulty in selecting 2nd gear. Luckily I lived near the Len Savage Shop in Farnborough and he put me in touch with an old mechanic who had loads of spares and I got another selector drum. I don't know how we managed it but with some help from friends we changed the drum and it all worked. I got the bike through th…

I wouldn't say that I am new to trials, but I have only been riding motorcycles for about a year and a half, and I have been riding trials for about a year. My first motorcycle was a 1978 yamaha IT 175, and I still have it. I ride a 1999 Beta Techno 250, and it seems to be doing well for an older bike, but i am looking for something newer. I go and ride every chance I get (when my bike isn't broken or being worked on). I have cracked the swingarm, the rear wheel has been broken, and i have broken a set of bars. I dont know if that is a lot that has happened in the past year, but it seems like every old bike has problems. I ride in the ameature class, and am considering mo…

Hi all, I'm a bit of a fringe dweller of the trials, seem to dip in and out of it as there's no clubs remotely around where I live. If there was, I'd be in the thick of it. Was in Tassie for a little bit and was introduced to trials bikes some years ago, loved it and bought one. I love the old stuff and found myself a Montesa Cota, which is the thing that brings me here, as Ive just pulled it back out and am doing a resto. Good to be here!

Hi new to trials, and I'm going out on my recently purchased Montesa 315R today for the first time, if I survive I'll carry on posting!! My first offer to the community is a link I came across, it's the Kickstart (remember it) 1983 Final with Peter Purves and Mick Andrews, I suppose this is what got me interested in trials years ago and finally 25 years on I've finally bought a bike, must be that 40's thing. 35 mins good quality and can download from google. 1983 Kickstart Final Also the originating site which has some excellent media trials footage. Good trials site for media footage. cheers, Mal PS. If links dont work here are the URL's. video.google.co.uk/video…

Hi all It has been a while since I rode and I am badly in need of some practice! The places I used to go to about 15 yr ago, Tholty, Glen Lough, Dhoon Quarry etc all seem to be no go areas now and I think that Laxey mines may be off as well due to it being on DAFF land? Any manxies know where it is OK to ride now? Kind regards Brokeback [/size]

Hello all! I was an avid trials rider beginning in the early 1970s, and had MANY different trials motorcycles. Some brands were Ossa, Bultaco ( 3 Sherpa Ts), Greeves ( my first one), D.O.T., Saracen, and I am certain there were a few others in the mix. I rode enduros, motocross, and flat track as well. I still avidly ride road bikes, and collect and restore vintage bikes. But it was time to go back to my roots, and I purchased a 2012 Sherco 2.9. Tremendous difference between the 1970s era trials bikes and the modern ones. I have a lot of catching up to do, but love the sport and am a good listener and fast learner. Now if someone will only tell me how to change the cra…
