Hi all. Grew up riding trials bikes in my youth (Bultaco Sherpa's/Montesa Cota's), before moving onto road bikes. Currently run a 1996 Yamaha GTS 1000 on the road, and bought a road registered 1998 Gas Gas TX270 last week. Plan was to scoot about various quiet brown field industrial sites around the East End of Glasgow, departing before I attract any attention, however will likely contact the Bob McGreggor academy having found them on the net. Would love to hear how long other newbies took before taking part in events? Is it something you can just give a go if your bold enough, or have you got to go through "peer" training/assessment/qualification before being allow…

Hello all, I hope I’m doing this right, if not please forgive me. I’m a 64 year old guy with my first trials bike and my first try at a forum. A short while ago I took my Yamaha XT250 to Tennessee to ride some trails and stumbled onto the Trials Training Center and long story short I now own a demo ‘17 GasGas TXT 125 School. Flywheel weight and front sprocket down one tooth, what a hoot! I’ve been riding motorized two wheelers since I was eleven and I knew what trials riding was but never was exposed to it until now, what a shame. I’ve got a lot of ground to make up. One day at a time?

Hi, I am embarking on a rebuild of my son's Montesa Cato 247: Engine & Frame number 21M22865,making it manufactured between October 1976 & March 1977. I have a question about the swing arm. The bike is fitted with a standard swing arm but I'd prefer to fit a longer one for trials use. My question is where could I source one or alternaticvely how much longer is a trial SA so I could consider lengthening the standard one. Thanks

Hi Guys my names Jeff, and i am thinking of taking up trials. I currently jetski, freestyle on a stand up about 7 years now. Todays economy has swung me, where building a freestyle ski is big money, You cannot buy one new unlike a trials bike, where its ready to trial straight out the showroom. Any advise on what bike to buy ?, second hand for starters. I am 39 years old, 5 feet 7 inches, and 11 stone, any advise on the right bike for me would be gratefull. Thanks for any feedback Jeff.

Hello from West central Missouri. Older guy..I'm 62 years old. Retired , and on fixed income. Social security. Been saving up for the last few years. Saved up 1500.00$ Been wanting a bike to ride. I do have a large yard here on the old farm. Then I see a video of a trials bike. I like the go slow part. But anyhoo.. there's not much to pick from around here. Got on the web. Asking about a used bike.. 125cc ? Nothing. But I was absolutely shocked to find out what a new trials bike costs. Ten thousand dollars.. that completely blows me out of the water. So I've signed up on here.. hopefully someone not to far away, might have an older used bike…

Well I've just started my learning curve of trial's riding and now I'd like to ask a few questions.Picked up a 1986 ty 350 with a 250 top end over a year ago, after a carb clean and a trans flush I was able to ride it for 6-8 riding hrs. However first start up's are getting harder and harder [ to let you know I'm a tech at a yamaha shop 20 years] so I'm sure she's a little tired and I'd like to freshen her up.Is there any one stop shopping for parts or do I need to search here & there on the web?

Hey guys, my names Jamie. I'm 22 from Great Yarmouth. Upon recently acquiring a little pitbike (nicknamed the widow maker... Don't ask!) my love for motorcycles has been restored! Years back (I was maybe 15-16?) I used to be heavily into push bike trials (not that good though) and after always asking for a motorbike my parents caved and bought me an old Gas Gas 250. Every weekend I was down my local trials park learning to ride. One day the bike stopped running and has been in the shed since! I'm going to go over to the parents house and dig it back out this weekend and see if I can work out whys up. Hopefully was just something simple but as its been sitting for 6-7 ye…

Yeap, 42 and I wish I had tried trials when I was younger but better late than never! I recently purchased a 1997 Beta 260 Techno and I'm loving it. It's like trying to learn to ride all over again. I have been lurking around the site for about a week, very helpful stuff here. Looking forward to learning more and getting better. My new old toy! My Dual Sport! Go everywhere toy! And my daily rider!

Hello. I'm yet another trials newbie, and I live near Boston, MA (USA). I've been riding street for many years, and recently started trail riding. Most trails around here are very tight single track woods with lots of rocks and technical sections, so it seemed natural to try my hand at trials. I just purchased a 2000 Montesa cota 315R, and was glad to discover a monty-dedicated sub-forum here. Anyone else here from my neck of the woods?
