Hi all, Had plenty bikes in the past but never a trials bike although fancied it for long enough, so decided to go for it and see what happens. Bought a txt 280, 2001 model I believe. Runs sweet as a nut, starts first kick, been sat in a garage for a few years so got a good deal, bit rough around the edges but not overly a***d about aesthetics, needs a good service and once over, only expensive part to sort really is the chrome on one of the stanchions has a 10mm flake off it which I think I’ll do a yeeha fix on with epoxy for now till I can afford the rechrome. Seems like a pretty active and handy forum anyway so will be on here a fair bit for info and w…

Hello everyone, Richard here. Temporarily misplaced Oregonian living in Alaska. Just getting into trials bikes and running into winter real fast! Just picked up a GG 280 (2005) a couple months ago and still working on learning how to ride it. Used to do a lot of enduro type/ single track riding in NE Oregon (20 years ago). Can tell already that this bike is going to be a BLAST!

Just registered with triials central. Complete trials beginner. I have visited two trials recently, Lancs one near Wray and today near Sedburgh which was a classic event. Where do I start? I have some off road experiance riding a Yam TTR250 with local TRF club but I am no expert. I guess I first need to join either Westmoreland or Lanc MCC. Then a bike! fairly confused on which one- modern or twinshock? I think no bigger than 250 2 or 4 stroke?. At todays classic the Yam TY 175 or 250 seemed a possible choice but should I be going for a more modern machine? I am a 50 years young so I need to make a sensible/correct choice!

Hello everyone, I'm currently rebuilding a 350 199a and hopefully this forum will prevent me entering therapy for a little while longer. I bought it off e-bay and it looked ok and I was willing to take the risk. I think I've managed to salvage the frame and one bolt! However, the combined expertise of everybody out there may help me to get to the finish. I scrambled in the 70s and 80s but would like to trial the bike when I eventually finish it along with my son who has just got a 125 Gasser. In terms of collections I've got bits everywhere, a GSXR750 Slingshot on the road and I am slowly collecting a 78 RM250 when I come across any bits and pieces. Look forward t…

Just thought I would introduce myself here as I have interested in trials bikes for a few years. I am now determined to purchase my first trials bike within the next few months...as soon as I can save up enough. I have never ridden a trials bike but I rode a lot of BMX and FMB and learned some of the basic trials bicycle principles over the years. I may be underestimating a 150lb motorcycle but I assume some of the same principles apply. I grew up on dirt bikes and ride on the street but this will be my first trials experience. Open to suggestions and advice on purchasing my first trials bike, as well as any input you all might have regarding the trials community out her…

Hi, I'm Timo, I'm 16 years old and I live in the Netherlands. I always loved enduro and trials, and started driving my dad's bike (Suzuki DRZ400) sometimes when I was 14. And since last weekend, I'm proud owner of a '99 Montesa 315R. And now I just have to practice a lot .

Hello, where to start. I've just purchased a Beta evo 300 4T. What kind of tyre pressures should I be running front and rear? I've been told you don't soak and rinse the air filter in filter oil you just give it a light spray, is this right? How much play shoud there be in the head stock? I Want to do an oil and filter change, I'm told these have 3 filters to change? Any recommendations on oil? Finally, roughly how long should it take for the rad fan to kick in? Thanks in advance

Hello all, I hope I’m doing this right, if not please forgive me. I’m a 64 year old guy with my first trials bike and my first try at a forum. A short while ago I took my Yamaha XT250 to Tennessee to ride some trails and stumbled onto the Trials Training Center and long story short I now own a demo ‘17 GasGas TXT 125 School. Flywheel weight and front sprocket down one tooth, what a hoot! I’ve been riding motorized two wheelers since I was eleven and I knew what trials riding was but never was exposed to it until now, what a shame. I’ve got a lot of ground to make up. One day at a time?

Hi, I'm a newbie on the site and hoping someone can help me with a maintenance issue. I will post this in the correct forum also, but felt it was only polite to introduce myself first. Now living in western Canada, but originally from the UK. Had a few trials bikes back when God was a lad. I currently have a tired old Gasgas JTX 320 ('97 I think) awaiting the installation of new fork seals. That is where the problem begins! I cannot unscrew the upper sleeve on the slider, due to either the two parts being time fused together, or simply not being able to get enough torque to break the threads. I can find no data on this particular fork on the internet. I would normal…

Hi everyone, Totally new to trials at the grand old age of 50. ? i do ride on the road, currently running a 2017 Ktm Superduke 1290, but wanting to try trials riding for those colder wetter winter days. ive just brought an old 1999 Beta Techno 250 & have yet used it in anger, just pottered around the garden. So im now looking for local trials venues, i think the closest is Raydon pits, but need to find a phone number as to how to access etc ive got a fair few newbie questions, but will try to search the forum first, but you'll have to excuse me if i do ask commonly asked questions

Hello, Just about to get my 2nd trials bike at almost 52, my first was a Bultaco Sherpa 325 about 25 years ago so the 99' Beta Techno 250 will be like starting from zero! I currently run a CCM644DS and also a BMW R1150GSA and the Beta will be solely for fun and pleasure as well as for fitness and coordination improvements. Cheers, Mike.

Another oldie thinking of restarting up in the North West. Started riding a 250 Bultaco in 1974, also had a Montesa 247 UKR and my last was a Beamish Suzuki. Stopped when I moved into rallying in 1978 so thats a 32 year gap, Blimey I most be getting on at 50yrs !!!! So whats changed ? will being 50 make me a veteran ? Looking to get a Sherco as a friend works for a dealer, but whats this NO seat ! will my legs manage to stand all the time!.
