I am thinking of buying a 2 stroke Sherco 250 or 290. I was going to buy a Beta Rev 3 but they have lost my confidence due to so many stories of electrical and stator problems not to mention that useless mikuni carb,can anyone shed any light on the quality of the Sherco please, regards Andy.

Find a bike in the best nick you can. A 250 is fine for all but the most advanced in most cases. There are few problems throuout the years if the bike is lubed well and air filters are kept well.

Thanks for the input, i have never considered Sherco before & wondered what their reliability and build quality was like. As i am trying to make up my mind between a few bikes when i replace my old one at the end of the year.
