March 16, 200818 yr Frankie your 1978 Ty250 when standard had a 26mm venturi carby made by Mikuni for Yamaha. It is quite different to an off-the-shelf Mikuni VM. If you want to replace the carby, there are many you can choose from including a modern flat slide type. The cheapest option would be to get a standard TY250 carby second hand. Parts are still available for them. Another would be to get a new 26mm VM Mikuni. B&J Racing sells them prejetted to suit the TY250 twinshock. Edited March 17, 200818 yr by feetupfun
March 17, 200818 yr Your best bet, and cheapest is a VM 26, standard settings will be about 150 main and 35 pilot, and a 2 slide. If you fit new reeds you may need to alter the the jetting by one size, likewise you may need to alter them if you are using a podded cleaner. Also if you are still on a posilube system the new VM 26 does not have an oil inlet from the pump. tony
